Job Description

Cellula is looking to add a PDM Administrator / Mechanical Designer to its Engineering team to support product development and project delivery.

We seek a dual-role professional for a PDM Administrator / Mechanical Designer position to manage our engineering data infrastructure and generate mechanical manufacturing drawings. You will administer the SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional vault to ensure data integrity and workflow efficiency. You will also create precise fabrication drawings, update legacy schematics, and optimize CAD processes with automation tools to boost efficiency and excellence within the engineering team. The ideal candidate has experience administering SolidWorks PDM vault in a fast paced, dynamic engineering company.

Duties and Responsibilities

PDM Administration & Automation (40%)

  • Configure vault workflows, states, permissions, and data cards.
  • Troubleshoot user access, replication errors, and file archive issues.
  • Develop automation scripts using VBA or the SOLIDWORKS API.
  • Manage software upgrades, service packs, and client installations.
  • Maintain templates, custom properties, and bill of materials (BOM) exports.

Mechanical Drafting & Design (50%)

  • Create detailed 2D manufacturing drawings from 3D models.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Execute Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and update legacy documentation.
  • Collaborate with production engineers to resolve manufacturing defects.
  • Verify assembly tolerances and perform interference checks.

Training & Support (10%)

  • Train onboarding engineers on vault best practices and drafting standards.
  • Write standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data management protocols.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years administering SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional environments.
  • 5+ years drafting complex mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Certified SOLIDWORKS PDM Administrator (CPDMA) credential.
  • Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional / Expert (CSWP / CSWE).
  • Working experience designing, building, testing, and operating mechanical systems in robotics or embedded system application.
  • Engineering design and document configuration management.
  • Technical documentation: specifications, requirements, test plans/reports, operator manuals etc.
  • Proficient with: SolidWorks 3D modelling, drawings, stress analysis, thermal analysis, and/or CFD.
  • Experience using common hand tools to assemble complex mechanical systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Diploma in related Technologist field.
  • Expert proficiency in SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD modeling.
  • Strong working knowledge of sheet metal, machining, and injection molding.
  • Proficiency in VBA, C#, or VB.NET for API custom tool development is a considered a benefit.
  • Methodical approach to file structures and configuration control.
  • Clear communication style for cross-department training.
  • Sharp analytical skills for debugging workflow script errors.
  • Experience with unmanned vehicles.
  • Experience generating 2D drawings using DraftSight or AutoCAD.
