The Intermediate Product Development Mechanical Engineer will work closely with the Research & Development Manager and Senior Mechanical Engineer to develop new linear actuators, hardware accessories and electromechanical products from concept through production.
This role involves mechanical design, prototyping, testing, manufacturing support, supplier coordination, and continuous product improvement. The successful candidate will gain exposure to the complete product development lifecycle while taking increasing ownership of projects as their experience grows.
We are looking for a motivated, hands-on engineer who enjoys solving practical engineering problems and working with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Create new actuator designs and all relevant manufacturing documentation.
- Verify designs using Solidworks Simulation.
- Prototype and test all designs using practical machinery.
- Source all parts from local and overseas suppliers.
· Create processes and supervise the purchasing, assembly and quality control of the linear actuators developed.
· Submit all designs for relevant certifications.
- Produce technical datasheet, instruction manuals, and internal product education package.
- Lead internal product education campaign.
- Work with the Marketing team to launch products.
- Identify, resolve, and document product issues based on customer feedback, prior product updates, and in-house testing.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in product development and manufacturing.
- Experience with linear actuators, motor control, and manufacturing.
- Strong project management skills as most projects will be self-led – and an opportunity for leading the growing mechanical design team.
- North American manufacturing standards and certification.
- Microsoft office.
- Solidworks.
- Knowledge and fluency to coordinate with overseas manufacturing.
- Project management software: Asana.
The pay range for this role is:
60,000 - 80,000 CAD per year(Richmond, BC)
