Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer , the Chief Medical Officer is a vital member of the Executive Leadership (ELT) team. You will serve as the senior executive for all clinical and medical-related matters, reflecting the primary voice of the customer and OP’s premier ambassador to the pediatric medical community.
In this strategic capacity, you will champion the needs of end-users—including clinicians, nurses, and administrative staff —while providing dotted-line supervision and mentorship to OP’s internal Clinician team. Your objective is to drive clinical innovation, oversee patient safety, and advance OP's overarching business strategy to best serve the medical profession(s) within our target market(s).
This position can be full or part time.
Key Strategic Responsibilities:
Executive Strategy & Clinical Vision- Corporate Alignment: Collaborate with the ELT and senior leaders to align the delivery of clinical solutions with OP’s broader strategic organizational goals.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor healthcare industry trends and emerging technologies, providing concise, actionable competitive intelligence to OP’s sales, marketing, and product leadership teams.
- Growth Opportunities: Identify and advise on macro-level strategic growth areas, including artificial intelligence initiatives, data analytics, value-based care programs, and new pediatric market opportunities.
- Brand Ambassador: Serve as a thought leader in pediatric healthcare, representing and advocating for OP at relevant industry conferences and events.
- Strategic Partnerships: Develop and maintain high-level relationships with national pediatric organizations, industry leaders, and strategic partners.
- Market Consolidation Strategy: Act as a clinical advocate for independent practices, working with enterprise groups to navigate market consolidation strategies, including MSOs, Clinically Integrated Networks (CINs), Supergroups, and alternative payment models.
- Commercial Support: Partner with sales and marketing teams to drive thought leadership content, host webinars, and engage in high-level conversations with prospective clients and market influencers.
- Clinical Advisory Board: Lead and engage with the OP Clinical Advisory Board (CAB) at least quarterly, while developing strategies to recruit and retain top medical talent for the board.
- Customer Advocacy: Monitor and respond to the customer community via OP Connect, and partner with the Customer Success (CSM) team to problem-solve alongside at-risk practices.
- Advisory Services: Provide clinical guidance and external consulting as part of OP Advisory Services, helping practices improve performance through better tool utilization or population health strategies.
- Event Leadership: Play a key role in OP’s annual User Conference, ENGAGE, including presenting during the General Session.
- Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with OP leadership colleagues to help ensure OP adheres to all relevant healthcare laws and regulations concerning both product functionality and internal operations.
- Patient Safety: Drive initiatives that enhance patient safety and care quality, providing timely clinical review and guidance regarding any product-related incidents or workflow safety concerns.
- AI & Innovation Oversight: Provide high-level clinical oversight for AI-enabled products and workflows, ensuring their safety, accuracy, and strict alignment with pediatric standards of care.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Training: Completion of a Pediatric Residency.
- Clinical Experience: A minimum of 10 years of independent clinical pediatric practice experience.
- Executive Experience: Proven track record in a leadership role within a healthcare organization , demonstrating strong analytical, problem-solving, and budget management skills.
- Market Mindset: A strong entrepreneurial spirit geared toward anticipating market needs and driving profitable growth for OP.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous or current experience as an OP platform user; experience working in a private equity-sponsored environment; and experience in HCIT or software-related fields.
Supervisory responsibilities:
- Oversees OP’s Clinician team on a dotted line basis.
Work Environment / Physical Demands/ Travel Requirements:
- This job requires many hours on the computer and in in-person and virtual meetings.
- Daily use of office equipment including computer, telephone, printer / copier.
- No heavy lifting is required.
- If the position is remote relative to the Fort Washington office, expect travel of between 10-30%.
