Senior Accountant in Charlotte, North Carolina at Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Diocese of Charlotte is seeking a Senior Accountant for our Accounting Department in order to further the wide-ranging work of our ministries, parishes, and schools. Overall, this position will work closely with the Assistant Controller to provide financial support for 3 Diocesan Entities:

1) Central Administration - which reports administrative activities and ministries

2) DL Catholic - which holds funds on deposit from Diocese entities & Parishes and uses these funds to invest for the benefit of the Diocese as well as provide loans as needed

3) Diocese Foundation - which administers funds for endowments created for educational, religious, and charitable purposes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete account reconciliations and prepare journal entries for assigned entities
• Distribute monthly financial statements to Diocesan departments and quarterly savings reports to Parishes
• Support financial statement reporting analysis
• Complete annual audit schedules and financial statements for assigned Diocesan entities
• Prepare quarterly Investment Reports
• Support the annual planning process – prepare review templates
• Initiate wire transfers and ACH transactions through banking software
• Facilitate deposits and withdrawals for Parish savings accounts
• Prepare Sales & Use Tax returns & refund reports
• Assist with stock gift transactions and reporting
• Maintain accounting procedures and standard work
• Ability to lead and develop professionals – expected future direct reports

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform similar job-related duties as assigned.
• Perform Ad-hoc analysis and provide accounting support to Diocesan leadership
