SUMMARY:

Responsible for plant operation during assigned shift. This will include direct supervision of union employees, overseeing the work order system for maintenance, waste water pretreatment system; customers’ orders are within specifications and meet scheduled delivery times. Enforce company policies, federal regulations from FDA, USDA, OSHA, and EPA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises and coordinates the daily activities of all plant workers to ensure optimum efficiency, quality, productivity, and safety.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems and assists workers with any work-related concerns.
  • Conducts walk through and inspection of plant operations to ensure that plant is in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Quality Standards.
  • Develops most efficient schedule of finished product to lower expenses by reducing hours of operation
  • Completes daily paperwork including Log Sheets, Accident Reports. Status Report for Plant Manager, and Time and Production records.
  • Assists with record keeping and reports for the EPA, Regulatory agencies, and MDE.
  • Communicates with Shift Production Supervisors to coordinate activities.
  • Reports Union grievances.
  • Initiates and suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals or tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/ or management.
  • All employees are expected to support the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program by following food safety and quality procedures, maintaining hygiene and cleanliness, and reporting any concerns. Team members must understand their role in the SQF System, complete required training, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement to ensure safe, high-quality products.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience with considerable knowledge of plant operations and manufacturing. Dairy experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or Ged required.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • Ability to effectively plan work procedures, equipment, material and manpower needs.
  • Ability to effectively build and lead a productive work group as well as to perform as a member of the management team.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of regulatory laws and responsibilities related to processing and filling.
  • Proven ability to train, supervise and develop staff, formulate policy, and direct activities.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
  • Must be available to serve rotational 24 hour emergency on call if required by site.
