Infection Preventionist Summary
The Infection Preventionist manages activities of the McCready Nursing Home Infection Prevention Program under guidelines established by the TidalHealth Infection Prevention Team, The Joint Commission, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Center for Disease Control, APIC, SHEA, IHI, AHRQ and OSHA. The Infection Preventionist ’s scope of care is to protect the patient, healthcare worker, visitors and others in the healthcare environment in a cost-effective manner, whenever possible, in order to improve the health of the communities we serve. The inventory, distribution/delivery of medications may be required.
Infection Preventionist Requirements
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a state-approved practical nursing program required.
License and/or certification:
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), licensed in the state in which they live.
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control by the National Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology LLS (credentialed as “CIC”) is highly preferred.
Experience:
- Five years’ experience as a Licensed Nurse Practitioner including one year of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity.
- Experience with clinical diagnostic and laboratory procedures, microbiology, infectious/communicable diseases, patient care procedures and detailed knowledge of acute care hospital facility operations.
- Experience working with all components of Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, Power point), HPF, Safety Surveillor, Care Manager, and Star.
Infection Preventionist Schedule
Schedule:
- Primarily day shift, Monday through Friday.
- Occasional weekends, evenings or nights as needed.
