Report to Custodial Supervisor

Department Custodial – Campus Operations

FLSA Status- Hourly, Non-Exempt

JOB PURPOSE

Midwestern Baptist takes great pride in our campus and our facilities. The Assistant Day Porter is responsible for making sure the facilities are clean, neat, and presentable to the public on a day-to-day basis. Maintaining common areas, responding to cleaning and/or supply emergencies, as well as providing a watchful eye for any items out of place.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain all common areas to include window cleaning, vacuuming, and floor cleaning as necessary
  • Support setup and teardown for Spurgeon College Gatherings at the gym and special cohort events.
  • Assist with cleanup and space reset at KMH for Fusion and Accelerate cohorts.
  • Set up classes at Fireside and Downing Rooms.
  • Prepare conference rooms before and after important meetings.
  • Set up designated areas for campus events and conferences.
  • Support campus-wide logistics of space management during institutional events, recruiting events, conferences, and summer programs
  • When applicable, place safety hazard signs in the building including wet paint and wet floor warning signs.
  • Monitor, restock, and service restrooms and break areas.
  • Monitor trash during peak lunch periods and after.
  • Operation of robotic floor cleaner in the MSC during high traffic days.
  • Complete work orders as assigned, and in a timely manner
  • Respond to any major spills or other cleaning crises.
  • Remove litter and rubbish from main common rooms.
  • Complete minor repairs and building improvements.
  • Help order supplies required for facility maintenance.
  • Wash, dry, and fold guest housing laundry
  • Unload pallets/stock back room and closets
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

Including, but not limited to:

  • Christian with high integrity, actively pursuing a relationship with God
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Able to follow directions, work independently, problem-solve, make decisions, and meet deadlines
  • Basic knowledge of building systems and/or construction is helpful, but not required
  • Must be comfortable on a ladder, working at heights and around equipment
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures and supplies is helpful
  • Must be reliable and professional
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Positive attitude with a desire and willingness to learn
  • Able to multi-task, analyze workload, and prioritize as necessary for the benefit of the department
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to pass background screening, including driving record
  • Eligible to work in the United States

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Approximately fifteen to twenty hours per week.
  • Minimum of ten hours, and maximum of twenty hours per week.
  • Some flexible hours may be required due to special events on campus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to stand and walk without issue for majority of daily shift.
  • Able to grip with hand, reach with arms, climb, stoop, twist or kneel
  • Able to lift up to 10 lbs. frequently
  • Able to push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
