OVERVIEW:

This critical hire is responsible for building a world-class data platform that enables advanced analytic and agile business practices to create state of the art customer experiences. This platform will enable understanding, documentation and development of solutions which enhance experience. Using process improvement methodology and data analytics, this role will deliver high quality and actionable insights which enables the distribution channel to improve business results. Working with organizational leaders, Sales Consultants, New Business and Underwriting, as well as external partners, the Data & Analytics Platform will support or lead key projects and cross functional teams which drive team initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Lead the Digital Transformation with a focus on automation and process improvements to increase member satisfaction and drive new revenue opportunities through data.
• Manage and optimize processes for data ingestion, validation, mining and engineering as well as modeling, visualization and communication deliverables via the data pipeline.
• Establish a computing environment to enable the development of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing/capabilities.
• Create a “Model Factory” for Data Science Models and Algorithms to ensure governance.
• Drive business engagement with leaders (both those who are already on board and those who are not) to support and implement high-quality, data-driven decisions.
• Innovate and advance on our infrastructure as our data volume continue to increase and business use cases continue to emerge.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience of IT platform implementation in a highly technical and analytical role.
• 3+ years’ experience of Data Lake/Hadoop platform implementation, including 3+ years of hands-on experience in implementation and performance tuning Hadoop/Spark implementations.
• 5+ years’ experience consulting on analytics, technology and strategy. Experience as a Technical Data Leader with core capabilities in Cloud Technologies, enterprise data management with a fixed focus on data governance as well as with overall Data Warehousing and optimal delivery strategies.
• Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with analytic solutions applied to the Marketing or Risk needs of enterprises.
• Understanding of Apache Hadoop and the Hadoop ecosystem. Experience with one or more relevant tools (Sqoop, Flume, Kafka, Oozie, Hue, Zookeeper, HCatalog, Solr, Avro).
• Familiarity with one or more SQL-on-Hadoop technology (Hive, Impala, Spark SQL, Presto).
• Experience developing software code in one or more programming languages (Java, JavaScript, Python, etc).
• Current hands-on implementation experience required
