Operating Room Support Technician – RWJBarnabas HealthAt RWJBarnabas Health, Operating Room Support Technicians play an essential role in supporting the Perioperative team and ensuring the operating room environment is organized, efficient, and prepared to meet the needs of patients and clinical staff. This position provides an opportunity to contribute directly to high-quality patient care by maintaining appropriate work levels, supporting inventory management, following established policies and procedures, and promoting a professional and service-focused environment. Operating Room Support Technicians work closely with the Perioperative team to help maintain smooth daily operations and uphold the organization's commitment to continuous quality improvement (CQI).
A typical day for an Operating Room Support Technician may include:
- Assisting the Perioperative team with daily operating room support activities to help maintain maximum work levels and efficient department operations
- Ensuring supplies, equipment, and other necessary materials are appropriately organized and available to support Perioperative procedures
- Monitoring and maintaining inventory in accordance with established inventory control techniques and departmental procedures
- Supporting the preparation and organization of operating room areas to promote an efficient, safe, and professional environment
- Following hospital, departmental, and Perioperative policies and procedures to maintain a high level of service and professionalism
- Working collaboratively with nurses, surgical staff, physicians, and other members of the Perioperative team to support daily operational needs
- Identifying supply or inventory needs and communicating concerns appropriately to help prevent disruptions to department operations
- Maintaining organized work areas and ensuring supplies and materials are handled according to established departmental standards
- Supporting continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives by adhering to established standards, procedures, and performance expectations
- Completing required organizational and departmental training and orientation programs
- Demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to continuing education and professional development
- Performing other support duties within the scope of the position to assist the Perioperative team and promote high-quality patient care

To be considered for this Operating Room Support Technician opportunity:
- You have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of inventory control techniques is required
- Completion of a Certified Aide training program is helpful, but not mandatory
- You have a proven work record demonstrating reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to quality
- You demonstrate a commitment to continuing education and professional development
- You hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers
- You successfully complete required site personnel general orientation
- You successfully complete department-specific orientation
- You are able to work collaboratively with the Perioperative team while maintaining established policies, procedures, and service standards
