About This Position

PURPOSE OF POSITION

This purpose of this position is to provide technical leadership and support for engineering team, clinical staff and administration. This includes by not limited to department operations such as complex and specialized tasks including maintenance & servicing of complex therapeutic, diagnostic and high- risk equipment and integrated systems, project management and staff instructions and competencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

  • Demonstrates technical leadership competency and project coordination with installation, technical commissioning, life cycle maintenance, calibration and repair of complex biomedical equipment and integrated systems.
  • Performs in-depth analysis and repair of a substantial variety of clinical equipment including high risk and critical care.
  • Assesses, coordinates, maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Manage plan.
  • Serves on departmental and hospital committees.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance, in-house repairs on on-call responsibilities.
  • Performs evaluation and repairs networked monitor systems and coordinates with IT personnel for medical data storage and transfer solutions.
  • Attends and successfully completed advanced training courses on operation, maintenance and repairing medical devices.
  • Capable of education and mentoring others including clinical staff related to the technical integration of device/systems.
  • Experienced with multiple modalities and serves as trainer, mentor to entry and mid-level staff.
  • Capable of performing staff evaluations and competencies.
  • Provides equipment cross-training to staff within the department.
  • May assign, direct and inspect the tasks of engineering staff and coordinate implementation of projects
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and the ability to problem solve issues.
  • Professional communication skills – both verbal and written to all personnel related to the equipment maintenance process.
  • Communicated technical issues to management and assists in overall maintenance solutions.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and without direct supervision as well as in a team driven environment.
  • Must be results-oriented and able to shift priorities. Must possess basic computer skills in MS Office and computerized work order system.
  • Assist department and leadership in meeting all regulatory requirement of CMS, TJC, federal, state and local authorities.
  • Capable of performing in an interim site lead capacity in the absence of Manager/Supervisor.
  • Preforms other related duties as required.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum requirements of AS Biomedical/Electronic technology or structured advanced training/certification in Biomedical Engineering or military equivalent with advanced levels of technical service management expertise (OEM or equivalent).
  • 3 yr. minimum of experience in applied advanced biomedical equipment and electronic principles and 5yr. minimum of hospital experience is a must.
  • Sufficient technical points that demonstrate technical proficiency to senior level technician
  • Certification from an accredited organization is desired
  • Valid Ohio driver license

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Rotating shifts, weekends, on-call assignments and Holidays as assigned
  • Travel to various assigned sites/locations as required
  • Works in well-lighted/ventilated office area
  • Primarily walking/standing during working hours. Some moderate lifting required.
  • Subject to changes in priorities
  • Subject to frequent interruptions due to change in priorities or customer service needs
