Department DescriptionThe Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD), a recipient of the 2013 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Prize, works to protect and promote the health of everyone in the city, with a special focus on vulnerable populations. Administered by the Cambridge Health Alliance, the CPHD uses a Social Determinants of Health framework to address factors like economic stability, education, and racism that affect community well-being. Its key areas of focus include communicable disease prevention, environmental health, and emergency preparedness. The department is also responsible for creating and enforcing public health regulations within Cambridge.Job SummaryCambridge Health Alliance is seeking a Nurse Manager to lead clinical operations, service planning, business performance, and quality improvement initiatives for the department. This role provides direct leadership to nursing and interdisciplinary staff to ensure exceptional, mission-driven community care.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Operations: Directs all unit clinical and support staff, oversees employee competencies, conducts annual reviews, and resolves conflicts.
Service Planning: Assesses community health and educational needs to develop aligned programming and facilitate interdisciplinary patient care.
Business Performance: Manages the unit budget, monitors cost-per-unit metrics, and drives operational efficiencies.
Performance Improvement: Develops and tracks metrics for clinical outcomes, volume, and customer satisfaction.
Leadership & Culture: Leads change initiatives, collaborates with union leadership, and promotes a diverse workforce.
QualificationsEducation: Graduate of an NLN-accredited School of Nursing; BSN required (Master’s preferred).
Licensure/Certifications: Current or conditional Massachusetts RN license; active BLS "C" certification.
Experience: 5 years of clinical experience in the department area with demonstrated management and leadership abilities.
