This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Fleet Safety Manager based in United States.
This is a senior safety leadership role focused on strengthening a proactive, behavior-based culture across a large and diverse fleet operation. You will lead strategies that reduce incidents, improve driver performance, and protect employees, the public, and company assets. The role combines fleet safety expertise, data analysis, coaching, technology, and cross-functional leadership. You will use telematics, video analytics, incident trends, and near-miss data to identify risks and implement targeted interventions. You will also shape driver training, fatigue management, defensive driving, and safety technology programs. Success requires someone who can turn complex safety data into practical actions and influence teams across a dispersed organization.
- Lead and continuously improve fleet safety programs focused on incident prevention, risk reduction, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with operations leaders, supervisors, and field teams to integrate safety into daily decision-making and reinforce safe behaviors.
- Analyze incident trends, telematics information, video data, and near-miss reports to identify high-risk behaviors and emerging risk patterns.
- Design targeted interventions addressing risks such as speeding, distracted driving, fatigue, and other unsafe behaviors.
- Conduct root cause analyses and incident reviews, identifying systemic improvements and coordinating corrective actions with relevant teams.
- Develop and manage driver coaching programs based on positive reinforcement, skill development, and measurable behavior change.
- Train supervisors and leaders to effectively coach drivers and reinforce safe driving practices.
- Lead defensive driving, fatigue risk management, driver onboarding, ongoing training, and in-cab technology initiatives.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of fleet safety programs and refine strategies based on performance data and operational feedback.
- Leverage telematics, dash cameras, video analytics, and other safety technologies to monitor driver performance and improve risk visibility.
- Translate safety data into actionable recommendations, clear communications, and practical improvements for operational stakeholders.
- Drive adoption and effective utilization of fleet safety technologies across the organization.
- Manage incident review and claims processes in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
- Track vehicle repair and replacement costs associated with incidents, theft, and other losses, including vehicle details, region, replacement cost, and date of loss.
- Develop safety campaigns, communications, recognition programs, and engagement initiatives that resonate with drivers and field teams.
- Promote a visible safety culture by coaching leaders, recognizing positive performance, and reinforcing accountability at all organizational levels.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, transportation, risk management, or a related field is preferred.
- 7–10+ years of experience in fleet safety, transportation safety, occupational safety, risk management, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing fleet safety programs focused on incident prevention and behavioral improvement.
- Hands-on experience with telematics, dash cameras, video analytics, or other fleet safety technologies.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret safety and fleet data and convert findings into actionable risk-reduction strategies.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective-action planning.
- Strong understanding of driver coaching, defensive driving, fatigue management, onboarding, and ongoing driver training practices.
- Proven ability to influence without direct authority and drive meaningful culture change across geographically dispersed teams.
- Excellent communication, coaching, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with operations leaders, supervisors, drivers, and cross-functional partners.
- Highly proactive, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where safety priorities may evolve quickly.
