Accountabilities
  • Lead and continuously improve fleet safety programs focused on incident prevention, risk reduction, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with operations leaders, supervisors, and field teams to integrate safety into daily decision-making and reinforce safe behaviors.
  • Analyze incident trends, telematics information, video data, and near-miss reports to identify high-risk behaviors and emerging risk patterns.
  • Design targeted interventions addressing risks such as speeding, distracted driving, fatigue, and other unsafe behaviors.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and incident reviews, identifying systemic improvements and coordinating corrective actions with relevant teams.
  • Develop and manage driver coaching programs based on positive reinforcement, skill development, and measurable behavior change.
  • Train supervisors and leaders to effectively coach drivers and reinforce safe driving practices.
  • Lead defensive driving, fatigue risk management, driver onboarding, ongoing training, and in-cab technology initiatives.

  • Leverage telematics, dash cameras, video analytics, and other safety technologies to monitor driver performance and improve risk visibility.
  • Translate safety data into actionable recommendations, clear communications, and practical improvements for operational stakeholders.
  • Drive adoption and effective utilization of fleet safety technologies across the organization.
  • Manage incident review and claims processes in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
  • Track vehicle repair and replacement costs associated with incidents, theft, and other losses, including vehicle details, region, replacement cost, and date of loss.
  • Develop safety campaigns, communications, recognition programs, and engagement initiatives that resonate with drivers and field teams.
  • Promote a visible safety culture by coaching leaders, recognizing positive performance, and reinforcing accountability at all organizational levels.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, transportation, risk management, or a related field is preferred.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in fleet safety, transportation safety, occupational safety, risk management, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing fleet safety programs focused on incident prevention and behavioral improvement.
  • Hands-on experience with telematics, dash cameras, video analytics, or other fleet safety technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret safety and fleet data and convert findings into actionable risk-reduction strategies.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective-action planning.
  • Strong understanding of driver coaching, defensive driving, fatigue management, onboarding, and ongoing driver training practices.
  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority and drive meaningful culture change across geographically dispersed teams.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with operations leaders, supervisors, drivers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Highly proactive, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where safety priorities may evolve quickly.
  • Strong commitment to accountability, continuous improvement, and protecting people, the public, and company assets.
