Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engage guests with in-depth knowledge of cocktails, wines, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Assess guest needs and preferences to make recommendations and promote sales
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages following The Allison’s recipes
  • Set up, stock, maintain, clean, and break down the bar areas
  • Prepare garnishes and drink batches as needed
  • Ability to serve guests from a bar or tableside
  • Comply will all laws and regulations regarding the service and consumption of alcohol
  • Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience
  • Handle all guest requests in a professional and courteous manner
  • Adhere to side work requirements as set forth by banquet managers or banquet captains
  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
  • Complete knowledge of the banquet menu
  • Suitable wine and beer knowledge to field questions during service
  • Ability to work well in team oriented environment
  • Assist banquet team with food service, as necessary
  • Comply with all food and beverage regulations
  • Any additional duties assigned by management

Job Skills/Requirements/Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Some hospitality industry experience required, preferably in Banquets
  • Minimum two (2) year’s experience as a bartender or similar, preferably in banquets
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Basic knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits.
  • Mathematical skills a must, handling of money and giving correct change
  • Good manual dexterity skills
  • Must possess excellent communications skills to include the ability to read/write in English
  • Ability to accurately follow written instructions
  • Be well organized, multi-task and be able to think/act quickly while maintaining self-composure
  • Must have social awareness, be guest sensitive, and possess a good sense of timing
  • Pride in personal appearance and a dedication to your profession is necessary
  • Physically fit with good stamina for physical tasks such as moving and lifting furniture and standing for long periods of time
  • Display integrity and honesty in all aspects of bartending
  • Minimum availability two (2) days per week (1 during the week and 1 weekend) and to include evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings and holidays
  • Willingness to work long hours, irregular shifts, weekends, holidays, and banquet blackout days
  • Successful passing of background investigation
  • Must have current Food Handler’s card, prior to first shift
  • Must have current OLCC permit, prior to first shift
  • Adhere to The Allison Inn & Spa grooming and appearance standards, or ability to adjust appearance accordingly

Working conditions/Physical Requirements

  • Standing, bending, reaching, kneeling for long periods in a confined space, generally up to eight (8) hours per shift.
  • Standing, walking, bending, reaching, or kneeling for extended periods of time, generally up to eight (8) hours per shift
  • Work irregular hours dictated by banquet business
  • Ability to consistently use hands for pouring, shaking, chopping, muddling and tapping
  • Use of hands and arms to feel, handle, reach, and touch
  • Ability to work indoors or outdoors
  • Ability to transport and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to lift 100+ pounds with assistance
  • May be subject to high noise levels
  • Work in a smoke-free and drug-free environment
