Cayuga Lake National Bank is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Consumer Loan Underwriter & Compliance Officer to join our growing lending team. What You’ll Do
Consumer Loan Underwriting
- Analyze and underwrite a variety of consumer loan products including:
- Real estate loans
- Personal loans
- Auto loans
- Credit cards
- Secured and unsecured lending products
- Evaluate income, assets, credit history, debt-to-income ratios, and collateral documentation
- Make timely lending decisions in accordance with established credit policies and risk standards
- Ensure loan documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant
Compliance & Risk Management
- Monitor and ensure compliance with consumer lending regulations, including:
- TILA / Regulation Z
- ECOA / Regulation B
- FCRA
- Fair Lending laws
- Applicable state regulations
- Review loan files and lending processes for compliance accuracy and quality control
- Identify and resolve deficiencies or compliance exceptions
- Support audits, risk assessments, and internal compliance initiatives
Secondary Market & Operational Support
- Prepare and qualify loans for secondary market eligibility
- Stay informed on changing regulatory requirements, lending trends, and market conditions
- Provide guidance and support to lending staff and management
- Assist with policy development, training, and process improvements
- Participate in community and branch activities that support the Bank’s local presence
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in consumer loan underwriting and/or lending compliance
- Strong understanding of consumer lending regulations and underwriting principles
- Experience within a bank, credit union, fintech lender, or similar financial institution preferred
Skills & Abilities
- Familiarity with loan origination systems such as MeridianLink Mortgage or similar platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively
- Professional communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
