Summary/Objectives
Responsible for reviewing and analyzing residential mortgage, home equity and consumer loan applications, including verifying income and employment, reviewing credit history, and evaluating overall borrower financial condition and collateral.
This role supports lending performance by ensuring sound credit decisions, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and delivering timely and accurate underwriting decisions. Must be organized, detail oriented and comfortable working in a deadline driven environment.
Essential Functions
- Underwrite first mortgage, second mortgage and consumer loans in accordance with policy, procedure and applicable federal, state and agency regulations
- Approve loan requests within individual lending authority
- Decision loan applications, including declines and withdrawals, and maintain accurate and complete files
- Maintain knowledge of bank and competitor loan products, including terms and conditions
- Work closely with originators to resolve issues related to loan applications, documentation and regulatory guidelines
- Attend OLC/ELC as required to present and recommend loans for approval
- Stay current on changes to industry regulations and underwriting guidelines
- Serve as point of contact for the Homebuyer Dream Program
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office and Outlook)
- Ability to learn and navigate internal systems
- Strong attention to detail and quality of work
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Education, Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or another business related field
- 1 to 3 years banking, lending or underwriting experience
- Prior experience in residential mortgage, consumer lending or underwriting
- Knowledge of banking regulations and lending compliance requirements
