The Universityof New Mexico, School of Medicine, Neurology Department seeks a behavioralor cognitive neurologist to join our Memory and Aging team in an open rank,clinician educator track position who is dedicated to the clinical care ofindividuals with cognitive disorders to help grow and shape an expandingcognitive neurology program. You will be part of a team of faculty who providehigh-quality cognitive care and will join a multidisciplinary group ofNeurology faculty within the Neurology Department, UNM's Center for Memory andAging (CMA) and the New Mexico Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC).

Academicresponsibilities include participation in the teaching of medical students,residents, and fellows and research activities of the department. The newlyfunded New Mexico ADRC provides a highly collaborative environment at theforefront of dementia research, with innovative programs spanning advancedneuroimaging and blood-based biomarkers, vascular and inflammatory mechanismsof dementia, brain clearance and glymphatic physiology, and novel therapeuticand vaccine approaches. Particularly distinctive is the Center's commitment tobringing state-of-the-art dementia care and research directly to New Mexico'srural, Hispanic/Latino, and American Indian communities through communitypartnerships and culturally responsive care and research.

As the Memoryand Aging program and New Mexico ADRC continue to grow, the successfulcandidate will have opportunities to shape new clinical, research, andeducational initiatives and assume leadership roles aligned with theirinterests and experience, including in cognitive neurology services, clinicaltrials, ADRC programs, and fellowship education.

The successfulcandidate is expected to have excellent communications skills and the abilityto work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.

  • MD degree orequivalent
  • Board eligibleor certified in Neurology or Psychiatry
  • Experience andtraining in neurological disease in older adults, especially dementia,Alzheimer's disease and related disorders (ADRDs)
  • Eligible towork in the U.S.

PreferredQualifications:

  • 2-3 years ofclinical experience in neurological care
  • Fellowshiptraining in cognitive disorders
  • A demonstratedcommitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of NewMexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and globalcommunities.
