Position Summary
Wallis Annenberg GenSpace is launching a pilot program at the Collins & Katz Family YMCA to bring GenSpace's small-group learning and community-based programming to older adults in a new setting.
The Site Lead will serve as the primary on-site GenSpace representative and independently oversee the day-to-day operation of the YMCA pilot. This person will ensure programs run smoothly, create a welcoming and engaging member experience, work closely with instructors to support high-quality program delivery, and manage routine operational needs and issues as they arise.
The Site Lead is expected to exercise sound judgment and take ownership of the site without requiring regular on-site supervision from GenSpace leadership. The ideal candidate is a resourceful, experienced professional who is comfortable building relationships, coaching others, solving problems independently, and recognizing when an issue requires escalation.
This is a temporary position supporting the GenSpace YMCA pilot, with the possibility of extension depending on pilot needs, performance, and program growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesSite Leadership & Member Experience
· Serve as the primary on-site GenSpace representative and take ownership of the day-to-day success of the YMCA pilot site.
· Create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for members and ensure a consistently high-quality GenSpace experience.
· Build relationships with members, respond to questions and concerns, and use sound judgment to resolve routine issues independently.
· Ensure the site remains organized, safe, welcoming, and ready for programming throughout the day.
· Coordinate directly with YMCA staff on routine site needs and maintain a positive day-to-day partnership.
Instructor Leadership & Program Delivery
· Work closely with instructors to ensure programs are delivered consistently and in alignment with the GenSpace experience.
· Ensure instructors arrive on time, are prepared for their programs, and understand expectations for program delivery.
· Observe programs and provide appropriate coaching and feedback to instructors to strengthen facilitation and member engagement.
· Address routine instructor performance, scheduling, or program-delivery issues directly and escalate significant or recurring concerns when appropriate.
· Ensure programs begin and end on time and that transitions between programs run smoothly.
Day-to-Day Operations & Problem Solving
· Independently manage routine site, member, instructor, scheduling, and operational issues as they arise.
· Troubleshoot basic technology and equipment issues, including audio-visual equipment, tablets, laptops, and other classroom technology.
· Anticipate day-to-day needs and take initiative to address problems before they affect the member experience.
· Exercise sound judgment in determining which issues can be resolved independently and which require involvement from GenSpace leadership.
Communication & Pilot Learning
· Maintain clear communication with GenSpace leadership regarding significant issues, recurring challenges, and operational needs.
· Share observations about member engagement, instructor performance, and the overall site experience.
· Identify what is working well and recommend practical adjustments that may strengthen the pilot as it evolves.
· Support special programs, events, and other pilot activities as needed.
Requirements:Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
· Approximately 3–5 years of professional experience in program operations, education, community programming, hospitality, recreation, older adult services, nonprofit work, or a related field.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership, exercise sound judgment, and solve problems without extensive day-to-day supervision.
· Experience coordinating or overseeing instructors, facilitators, staff, volunteers, or similar teams.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with members, instructors, colleagues, and community partners.
· Experience providing coaching, feedback, or day-to-day guidance to others preferred.
· Comfortable working with older adults in a respectful, engaging, and supportive manner.
· Comfortable troubleshooting basic technology and learning new systems.
· Highly organized, dependable, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a community-based environment.
