Swingtech is seeking a Middleware Systems Administrator to support enterprise application operations and maintenance in a federal IT environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on systems administrator who can support production and non-production environments, troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues, assist with monitoring and patch coordination, and maintain reliable system operations.

The selected candidate will work with application developers, database administrators, service desk staff, security teams, infrastructure providers, and customer stakeholders to help maintain system availability, resolve technical issues, support controlled changes, and document recurring operational procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day administration of enterprise application environments across production and non-production systems.
  • Monitor system, application, middleware, and interface availability, performance, and operational health.
  • Troubleshoot system, connectivity, access, performance, middleware, and application availability issues.
  • Support web, application, and middleware platforms in a mixed enterprise technology environment.
  • Assist with patching, version updates, vulnerability remediation, and post-change validation activities.
  • Support incident response, service requests, operational failures, and escalated technical tickets.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure teams, database administrators, developers, security personnel, and service desk teams to resolve issues.
  • Support user access, account management, permission updates, and periodic account reviews.
  • Develop or maintain scripts, automation, monitoring checks, and repeatable operational procedures.
  • Participate in change management, release support, production deployment support, and operational readiness reviews.
  • Maintain system documentation, including environment details, operational procedures, issue logs, startup/shutdown steps, configuration notes, and recurring maintenance activities.
  • Support disaster recovery, continuity planning, backup validation, and operational exercises as needed.
  • Follow applicable federal security, configuration management, access control, and documentation requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, middleware support, application operations, or similar technical roles.
  • Experience supporting production or mission-critical application environments.
  • Experience with networking concepts, system troubleshooting, monitoring, and operational support.
  • Experience with scripting, automation, or repeatable system administration tasks.
  • Experience supporting LAN/WAN, network segments, intranet systems, internet-facing systems, or similar enterprise networked environments.
  • Experience supporting web, application, or middleware technologies such as Apache, Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic, IIS, NGINX, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with Linux, Unix, Windows Server, or mixed operating system environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues across infrastructure, middleware, application, database, and network layers.
  • Ability to document technical procedures, system changes, recurring tasks, and issue resolutions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
