Job Description

Position Overview

Assisting in overseeing in daily operation of the In Room Dining department and mini bar organizes and facilitates within the Hotel to 5 star standards. Handles scheduling, training, service standards, maintenance of equipment and set-up of operation. When necessary discipline of staff as well as following the financial guidelines for the department.


Qualifications and Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.

  • One year of food and beverage management experience or similar position.

  • Approachable, motivator, sociable.

  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).

  • Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighing up to 20 to 25 pounds

  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language


Specific Position Requirements

  • The ability to hire, train, motivate, discipline, direct and supervise the work of the employees in the In Room Dining Department and Minibar

  • The ability to develop and maintain all training programs on a continual basis to ensure a high degree of professionalism with the staff

  • The ability to schedule all employees to maintain the service standards of The Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago while operating within budgeted labor cost guidelines.

  • The ability to ensure proper care, security and maintenance of hotel equipment through proper supervision of service personnel.

  • The ability to constantly monitor the staff’s appearance, attitude and degree of professionalism to ensure their strict adherence to The Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago standards of quality service

  • The ability to maintain a daily housekeeping program to include storage and operational areas and staff appearances.

  • The ability to conduct monthly departmental meetings to share information with the IRD & Minibar staff, obtain staff feedback regarding the department itself, and provide a regular forum for improving departmental communication.

  • The ability to take an active role in implementing safety procedures and following up within the department.

  • To perform and train associates to established standards of the preparation, presentation and delivery of high quality service to our guest.

  • The ability to complete banquet checks and report in the Catering Recap at the completion of the function.

  • The ability to complete IRD checks and report in the a Recap after a shift

  • The ability to report all problems, concerns and possible situations to the In Room Dining manager

  • To determine and adjust the type of service to be provided, according to the needs of the situation, in order to maximize the degree of guest satisfaction.

  • To ensure that the surrounding area is kept clean, secure and organized at all times

  • To monitor operating supplies and reduce spoilage and waste

  • Ordering of operating supplies

  • The ability to respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.

  • Monitor progress of guest dining experience by e-survey and feedback

  • Cleaning of work area, guest tables and trays

  • To be fully conversant with all services and facilities offered by the hotel.

  • Be courteous and display a professional attitude throughout service, no matter how busy we are.

  • To handle guest inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner and report guest complaints F&B Director

  • Assist and guide staff with preparation of guest amenities and correct delivery to guest rooms

  • The ability to prepare the payroll and gratuity reports as required.

  • Yearly performance evaluation of the In Room Dining staff.

  • The ability to prepare disciplinary forms for associates


Position Responsibilities

  • To understand and strictly adhere to the rules & regulations established in the Employee Handbook and the hotel’s policy on Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.

  • To report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform at all times.

  • To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times.

  • To maintain a good rapport and working relationship with staff in the outlet and all other departments.

  • To undertake any reasonable tasks and secondary duties as assigned by management/ Director

  • To respond to any changes in the department’s functions as directed by the hotel.

  • Ensure all side-work and daily responsibilities done by the end of the shift

  • To attend and contribute to all Staff meetings, Departmental and Hotel training scheduled and other related activities.

  • Shift schedules will be flexible, working both AM, PM, and Overnight shifts.

  • Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and management

  • The ability to constantly monitor the staff’s appearance, attitude and degree of professionalism to ensure their strict adherence to Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago standards of quality service.
