Senior Director, Business Development, Medical Affairs and HCP Solutions

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Director, Business Development, Medical Affairs and HCP Solutions based in United States.

This senior-level role will lead business development across Medical Affairs, Medical Information, MSL, and HCP engagement solutions within the life sciences sector. You will focus on emerging and mid-sized biotech and pharmaceutical organizations, creating new opportunities and driving meaningful revenue growth. The position combines strategic prospecting, consultative selling, executive relationship management, and market development. You will engage directly with senior Medical Affairs, HCP Marketing, Procurement, Operations, and Analytics stakeholders. Your industry expertise will help shape compelling RFI/RFP responses and high-impact client presentations. This is an entrepreneurial, highly collaborative environment where strong relationships and commercial leadership can directly influence growth and healthcare outcomes.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end acquisition of new clients across biotech and pharmaceutical organizations, including prospecting, qualification, relationship development, negotiation, and closing.
  • Develop and execute strategic market penetration plans focused on Medical Affairs, Medical Information, MSL, and HCP engagement opportunities.
  • Build, influence, and maintain senior-level relationships with Medical Affairs leaders, HCP Marketing leaders, Centers of Excellence, Procurement, Operations, and Analytics stakeholders.
  • Lead RFI and RFP responses, coordinating internal expertise to develop tailored capabilities presentations and compelling commercial proposals.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings, using these opportunities to strengthen relationships and generate qualified business opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Operations, Finance, and other cross-functional teams to ensure opportunities are strategically positioned and services can be delivered effectively.
  • Provide competitive and market intelligence that supports business development strategy and identifies emerging opportunities within the healthcare and pharmaceutical landscape.
  • Consistently meet or exceed revenue and opportunity-generation targets while maintaining accurate and timely activity records across CRM and sales intelligence platforms, including Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
  • Travel approximately 25% for client meetings, industry events, and business development activities.
Requirements:
  • Bring at least 5 years of experience in life sciences business development, Medical Affairs, client services, or a closely related field, with a demonstrated history of generating new business within healthcare or pharmaceutical markets.
  • Have proven success in outbound sales, client acquisition, and revenue generation, including a strong track record of achieving seven-figure revenue-based growth objectives.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Demonstrate strong, hands-on knowledge of Medical Affairs, Medical Information, MSL services, and HCP engagement solutions; this experience is essential for consideration.
  • Possess excellent networking, presentation, negotiation, and consultative selling capabilities, with the confidence to engage and influence senior decision-makers.
  • Be comfortable using modern sales and CRM technologies, including platforms such as Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
  • Bring an entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and commercially driven mindset, with the ability to independently identify opportunities and turn relationships into measurable business outcomes.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, relationship-building, strategic thinking, and executive presence, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Be able to meet the role's physical requirements, including regular communication, walking, sitting, and use of hands, with reasonable accommodations available where appropriate.
  • Be legally eligible to work in the United States and able to support approximately 25% business travel.
