Director of User Acquisition

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of User Acquisition based in the United States.

The Director of User Acquisition will lead the paid growth strategy for a fast-moving digital gaming business with a strong mobile focus.
This role owns the acquisition journey from first impression through installation, registration, and first deposit.
You will oversee substantial media investment across paid social, programmatic, DSPs, mobile ad networks, search, affiliates, creators, and emerging channels.
The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on campaign execution, optimization, experimentation, and performance analysis.
You will work closely with Analytics, Creative, Product, CRM, and Finance to improve acquisition efficiency and sustainable revenue growth.
Success will be measured through disciplined performance against LTV, ROAS, CPA, and payback targets.

Accountabilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive user acquisition strategy focused on acquiring depositing players and generating sustainable revenue growth.

  • Own media planning, forecasting, and budget allocation across paid social, programmatic, DSPs, mobile ad networks, paid search, affiliates, creators, and emerging acquisition channels.

  • Establish channel-specific performance targets in partnership with Analytics and align investment decisions with broader business objectives.

  • Build, launch, manage, and continuously optimize campaigns across platforms including Meta, TikTok, programmatic networks, DSPs, and mobile advertising platforms.

  • Manage acquisition performance against key metrics including CPA, ROAS, LTV, payback period, registration rates, and first-deposit conversion.

  • Make data-driven investment decisions and recommend budget shifts based on campaign performance, business priorities, and growth opportunities.

  • Manage agencies, advertising partners, and technology vendors, holding them accountable for execution quality, performance, and business outcomes.

  • Identify, evaluate, test, and scale new acquisition channels, platforms, audiences, partnerships, and growth opportunities.

  • Develop a structured testing roadmap covering channels, audiences, offers, landing experiences, creative concepts, and campaign strategies.

  • Partner with Creative teams to improve advertising concepts and experiences based on acquisition performance insights.

  • Collaborate with Product, CRM, Finance, and Analytics teams to improve the full customer acquisition and conversion journey.

  • Present growth strategies, performance insights, forecasts, and investment recommendations clearly to executive leadership.

  • Establish a disciplined channel and investment framework tied to player lifetime value and payback objectives.

  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, scalability, and sustainability of paid acquisition programs.

Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in user acquisition, performance marketing, growth marketing, or a closely related discipline.

  • Demonstrated success managing significant paid media budgets while optimizing against CPA, ROAS, LTV, and payback targets.

  • Hands-on expertise across paid social, programmatic, DSPs, mobile ad networks, and app acquisition channels.

  • Strong experience with platforms such as Meta and TikTok, including audience development, campaign setup, bidding, optimization, and performance analysis.

  • Knowledge of App Store Optimization (ASO) and mobile acquisition strategies.

  • Strong understanding of mobile attribution, including SKAdNetwork and mobile measurement partners such as AppsFlyer.

  • Familiarity with privacy-related limitations and their impact on mobile advertising measurement and attribution.

  • Strong analytical capabilities and the ability to translate complex performance data into clear investment decisions.

  • Proven ability to manage agencies, external partners, technology vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

  • Highly execution-oriented, with the ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on campaign management.

  • Experience in real-money gaming, mobile gaming, fintech, subscription applications, or another performance-driven digital business is preferred.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and performance objectives.
