Staff Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to handle a variety of financial tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
· General Ledger Maintenance: Assist with maintaining the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
· Account Reconciliations: Prepare and perform account reconciliations, including bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts, to ensure data integrity.
· Month-End Close: Support month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as necessary.
· Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports, providing insights into variances and trends.
· Accounts Payable and Receivable Support: Help manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment reconciliation, and follow-up on outstanding balances.
· Fixed Assets and Depreciation: Track and record fixed assets, calculate depreciation, and ensure accurate reporting of asset values.
· Audit Support: Prepare audit schedules, documentation, and reconciliations for internal and external audits.
· Compliance and Controls: Follow established accounting policies and internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and company standards.
· Special Projects: Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· 1-3 years of experience in accounting or finance.
· Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite) and advanced skills in MS Excel.
· Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
· Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
· Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Skills:
· CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
· Experience in [specific industry, e.g., manufacturing, real estate, healthcare].
· Familiarity with ERP systems and automated accounting processes.
