Job Description
The Point Surf Park is looking for dependable, safety-focused Maintenance Technicians to help keep our equipment, systems, and facilities operating safely and reliably.
This is a hands-on technical position supporting daily inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, authorized repairs, water-quality and filtration monitoring, facility maintenance, work orders, and equipment readiness throughout the park.
We are looking for people with mechanical aptitude, strong attention to detail, and the judgment to know when to fix something, when to stop work, and when to ask for help.
What You’ll DoInspect and Maintain Equipment• Complete assigned inspections of machines, wave systems, filtration systems, pumps, mechanical equipment, water-quality systems, and facility areas.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and authorized routine repairs.
• Monitor equipment performance, system readings, alarms, leaks, unusual noises, vibration, temperature, water chemistry, plumbing, lighting, and facility conditions.
• Respond promptly to work orders and maintenance requests.
• Troubleshoot problems methodically within your training and assigned authority.
Support Water and Facility Systems• Assist with filtration, pumps, water-quality monitoring, plumbing, lighting, mechanical systems, and other assigned facility needs.
• Perform water-chemistry testing, filtration work, and chemical handling only when trained and authorized.
• Record readings accurately and immediately report results outside established limits.
• Report equipment failures, leaks, structural damage, electrical hazards, plumbing concerns, fire risks, or other unsafe conditions.
Work Safely• Follow lockout/tagout, electrical, chemical, confined-space, fall-protection, hot-work, machine-guarding, PPE, and other applicable safety procedures when trained and assigned.
• Never bypass safety devices or modify equipment outside approved procedures.
• Stop work and notify leadership when a condition, procedure, or assignment is unclear or unsafe.
• Perform only work for which you are trained, authorized, and properly licensed when licensing is required.
• Never return equipment to service until required checks are complete and the equipment is safe.
Keep Work Areas and Equipment Ready• Maintain tools, testing equipment, mechanical rooms, filtration areas, workshops, storage spaces, chemical areas, and jobsites in a clean and organized condition.
• Help maintain tools, parts, supplies, and equipment so they are ready when needed.
• Communicate equipment status and operational limitations clearly during shift handoffs.
Document the Work• Complete work orders, inspection records, preventative-maintenance logs, water-quality records, equipment readings, parts usage, incident reports, and shift notes accurately and on time.
• Communicate unfinished work, recurring problems, operational interruptions, and unresolved safety concerns promptly.
• Coordinate with Maintenance Leads, Operations, and other departments as needed to support safe park operations.
What We’re Looking For• Previous maintenance, facilities, mechanical, pool, water-treatment, attractions, manufacturing, hospitality, construction, or comparable experience preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning how systems and equipment work.
• Experience with inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, tools, pumps, filtration, plumbing, mechanical equipment, or facility systems is a plus.
• Ability to read and follow SOPs, manufacturer manuals, Safety Data Sheets, labels, diagrams, checklists, work orders, and technical instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, computers, radios, and maintenance systems safely within assigned training.
• Sound judgment and willingness to ask questions rather than take unsafe shortcuts.
• Dependability, teamwork, coachability, and accountability.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational, technical, trade, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pool, facilities, or industrial training is a plus.
• Any license, certification, or authorization legally required for an assigned task must be current before that work is performed.
The Kind of Team Member Who Will Thrive HereYou are curious about how things work.
You notice unusual sounds, readings, leaks, or equipment behavior before they turn into bigger problems.
You follow procedures even when you think there might be a faster way.
You keep your tools, workspace, and documentation organized.
You are comfortable saying, “I’m not authorized to do that,” when a task is outside your training.
And you understand that doing maintenance correctly the first time is far better than creating a bigger problem with a quick fix.
ScheduleSchedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, opening or closing shifts, special events, planned shutdowns, weather response, and operational emergencies.
Regular and reliable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to remain for the full assigned shift are essential.
