Powder Coating Systems is looking to hire a Day Shift Sand Blaster.
This position is a full-time position.
Day Shift runs from 5AM to 1:30 PM Monday through Friday.
This position pays $17 to $20 per hour depending on experience.
After the initial ninety days, employees are eligible for six paid holidays, Paid Time Off (PTO) which starts accruing on the first day of employment, and a Sales Based Production Bonus which can be earned monthly, but paid out quarterly.
This position is responsible for counting in and blasting jobs to prepare for our coating process.
Employees in this position will also be supporting the floor in hanging, prepping, inspecting and packaging parts when the booth is not in operation.
The best candidates for this position are mechanically minded. They will work in a booth up to ninety percent of their shift. They are also expected to be able to work independently after a certain amount of time when they get used to the routine.
They will be required to wear long clothing at all time while in the booth to protect them from the shot regardless of weather.
They will also be required to wear steel/composite toe boots and hearing protection while working.
All applicants, once the offer is given and accepted, will be required to take an DOSH Medical Evaluation Questionnaire per WAC 296-842-22005. This is to clear them to use the hoods that provide supplied air while in the booth.
This is a very physical position, requiring the employee to hold a hose and shoot steel grit at metallic surfaces to clean them prior to coating. This position also will involve standing, bending and fine finger work. The employee will be expected to clean out their booth daily, which involves shoveling shot off the floor into their pot for reuse. Lifting will also be required up to fifty pounds.
The following are mandatory minimum requirements for this position.
Applicants must have evidence of these on their application/resume or they will not be contacted:
-Must be able to lift 50 lbs. repetitively. (We do have equipment to lift larger such as forklifts and an indoor crane and some parts can be lifted using a two-person lift.)
-Must have reliable transportation to be at work on time daily. (The shift begins at 5AM. Pierce Transit does not operate reliably that early in the morning.)
-Must possess a current Driver's License. (All employees will be certified on our sit-down forklifts to operate them in our shop.)
-Must have a good attendance record. (We work with small shifts and let go the folks who call in all the time so we can meet our production goals for our customers.)
-Must possess current documentation to work in the United States. (We are required by law to complete an I-9 within the first two days of work. This requires that we see the original documents for us to complete it legally. No copies can be used for this.)
The following are not required, but would be nice to have:
-Experience with Power tools, Air tools and operating a forklift and Indoor Crane.
-Previous experience using a sandblasting machine.
-The ability to be mechanically minded.
-Self-starter with a strong drive to get the job done.
