Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Backend Cloud Developer II, Developer Experience (DevEx) based in Canada.
This role sits at the core of a fast-evolving developer platform organization focused on accelerating engineering productivity through modern cloud infrastructure and tooling.
You will design and build internal platforms that power CI/CD, Kubernetes-based services, and automation systems used by hundreds of engineers across the organization.
The work directly shapes how software is built and delivered, improving speed, reliability, and developer experience at scale.
You will contribute to an AI-native engineering transformation, embedding intelligent automation and AI-driven workflows into everyday development practices.
The role combines deep backend engineering, cloud infrastructure expertise, and platform thinking in a highly collaborative environment.
You will partner closely with engineers, infrastructure teams, and product stakeholders to deliver systems that improve velocity and operational excellence.
This is a high-impact role for a builder who enjoys solving complex platform challenges and improving engineering systems end-to-end.
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD infrastructure and developer workflows using tools such as GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and related platforms to improve deployment reliability and developer velocity.
- Develop internal developer platforms, SDKs, and self-service tooling on top of Kubernetes (EKS) and GitOps-based infrastructure.
- Own and evolve infrastructure-as-code systems (Terraform/Atmos) across multi-account AWS environments to support scalable platform services.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to define safe, efficient, and standardized practices for production deployments.
- Build and maintain observability and metrics systems to measure platform adoption, performance, and engineering productivity.
- Contribute to incident response, reliability engineering, and postmortem processes, including automation for detection and remediation.
- Mentor engineers on cloud-native development practices, platform engineering patterns, and AI-assisted development workflows.
- Drive improvements to developer experience by identifying friction points and building scalable internal solutions.
- 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure-focused software development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS preferred), Helm, and GitOps workflows (ArgoCD or equivalent).
- Proven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions or similar systems.
- Solid expertise in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and experience managing AWS cloud environments.
- Strong programming skills in Go, Python, or Java with experience building production-grade internal tools.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, networking, and IAM concepts.
- Experience building or supporting developer platforms, internal tooling, or DevEx-focused systems.
- Comfortable working in AI-native environments and using AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate development workflows.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly.
- Experience working cross-functionally across engineering, infrastructure, and product teams.
- Strong ownership mindset with ability to drive complex technical initiatives from design to production.
- Competitive compensation package including base salary, bonuses, and equity/stock grants (Canada-based range: approx. $171,500–$201,000 CAD).
- Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Fully remote-friendly work environment within Canada.
- RRSP retirement savings plan with employer matching contributions.
- Flexible PTO and company-wide time-off periods throughout the year.
- Strong learning and development support, including training and upskilling programs.
- Home office equipment support and remote work allowances.
- Access to wellness programs and employee assistance resources.
- Exposure to cutting-edge AI-native engineering practices and large-scale cloud platforms.
