Job Title: Substitute School Nurse
Department: Supportive Staffing
Reports To: Clinical Nurse Coordinator

Employment Class: Per Diem/Part Time, Flexible
Job Summary:
Independent Nursing Care (INC) is seeking Substitute School Nurses to provide essential health services and support to students in local schools on an as-needed basis. This role involves administering medications, responding to student health concerns, managing chronic conditions, and ensuring a safe and healthy school environment. The ideal candidate is a skilled, compassionate nurse with strong assessment and communication abilities, comfortable working independently in a school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to students, including medication administration and first aid.
- Respond to illnesses, injuries, and emergencies within the school setting.
- Monitor and manage chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies.
- Maintain accurate health records and document care in compliance with school policies.
- Communicate with parents, school staff, and healthcare providers regarding student health needs.
- Promote a safe and healthy school environment through education and preventive care.
Qualifications:
- Active RN or LPN license in NYS
- School nursing experience preferred but not required.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different school environments and policies.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
