Reimbursement Specialist in North Kansas City, Missouri at North Kansas City Hospital

SUMMARY: SUMMARY: Under the direction of the department director and therapy supervisors, performs general secretarial / receptionist / clerical duties for the Rehabilitation Services Department.

Insurance/reimbursement specialist to support insurance pre-checks, pre-authorizations, authorizations and re-authorizations, primarily for physical therapy and speech language pathology with back-up support for occupational therapy at our main campus outpatient therapy clinic. This individual will work Monday through Friday, hours are 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. No weekends or holidays.

The ideal candidate has experience of managing insurance / billing claims for a medical practice and has some basic medical terminology. Customer service will be key to this role along with attention to detail, as this individual will be explaining insurance benefits for therapy services to patients and their caregivers and will support our scheduling teams with insurance-related questions. The ability to multitask and flexibility are also key elements to this role as insurance is always changing.

EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of medical terminology; basic knowledge of insurance/billing issues. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

EDUCATION: Preferred: Associates - Related Field
