Habitat for Humanity of Dane County (HFHDC) is seeking a hands-on and mission-driven Assistant Store Manager to support daily operations at our Habitat ReStore East location.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced retail or warehouse environment, enjoys staying active, and wants to make a direct impact in the community. Every purchase and donation supports affordable housing across Dane County.
What You'll Do
- Support daily store operations and team leadership
- Supervise staff and volunteers and provide training and coaching
- Assist with donation intake, pricing, and sales floor organization
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient store environment
- Handle cash operations, reporting, and opening/closing procedures
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve customer concerns
What You'll Bring
- 2+ years of retail, warehouse, customer service, or related experience
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
- Commitment to the Habitat for Humanity mission
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
- Supervisory or team leadership experience
- Experience with building materials, donation-based retail, or recycling program
- Ability to run and analyze sales reports to make metric driven decisions
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods
- Constant walking or motion to coordinate work and interact with co-workers
- Regularly required to lift 50+ pounds (more on occasion)
- Frequent bending, squatting, lifting, and repetitive motion
- Ability to frequently and accurately communicate with employees, customers, and vendors in person, via the telephone or by email
- Comfortable operating equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks (training provided)
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, including occasional exposure to outdoor conditions and extreme weather

Work Details:
- Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
- Additional hours outside of this schedule may occasionally be required based on business need
- Location: Primary work location is ReStore East, but may be assigned to ReStore West based on staffing needs.
