Labourers play an essential role in supporting day‑to‑day site operations, helping crews execute work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
About the Role
The Labourer is a field-based role within the Operations team, supporting environmental construction, demolition, and remediation projects across Western Canada. This position requires a safety-focused individual who understands the importance of procedures, equipment care, and teamwork in dynamic worksite environments.
Depending on project needs and experience, the role may function as a general labourer, torchman, or a combination of both. Candidates with experience in demolition, reclamation, remediation, and exposure to heavy equipment operations are encouraged to apply.
What You Will be Responsible for
Duties
- Load, unload, and move construction materials, tools, and equipment across project sites.
- Manually remove rocks, debris, and construction materials exposed by heavy equipment to maintain safe operating conditions.
- Support traffic control plans by placing, adjusting, covering, or removing signage, barricades, cones, and other control devices; direct traffic when assigned.
- Act as a spotter and signal equipment operators to support safe and accurate movement of materials.
- Assist with site water management activities as required.
- Use hand tools and small equipment to clear debris and prepare work areas.
- Excavate test holes by locating markers or flags, identifying and protecting exposed infrastructure, and clearly marking locations.
- Maintain organized, clean, and hazard-free work areas.
- Operate small to mid-sized equipment (e.g., packers, skid steers, articulated rock trucks) when trained and authorized.
- Perform other general labour and construction-related duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring
- Previous experience in environmental construction, demolition, remediation, or reclamation projects.
- Strong understanding of worksite safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to follow direction, work as part of a crew, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites across Western Canada.
Certifications for the Role
- H2S Alive
- Ground Disturbance Level II
- WHMIS (GHS)
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
- CSTS or equivalent safety orientation
- Standard First Aid with CPR/AED
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Criminal record check
- Fitness-for-duty assessment (including 50 lb lifting requirement)
- Alcohol and drug screening
- Driver’s abstract
- Ongoing participation in company-required testing and monitoring programs
Working Conditions
- Full-time, hourly position
- Project-based travel required
- Extended hours, shift work, and weekend work may be required depending on project schedules
- Work performed in outdoor and industrial environments under varying weather conditions
Compensation
Hourly wage dependent on experience and qualifications.
