Join us and contribute to building a more inclusive future.GrizzlyTrek is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators (Excavator) to join our valued client's team on heavy civil earthworks in the Fort McMurray region. This is full-time, long term, rotational camp work at $35.00 to $40.00 per hour to start, with room and board provided and flights from Calgary or Edmonton.
You will run 336 and 470 class excavators on lease construction, access roads, pads, culvert installation and reclamation. Ground conditions run from hardpan to soft muskeg, and winter work includes ice road construction. Rotations are most commonly 14 and 7 or 21 and 7, on 12 hour day and night shifts.

• Operate 336 and 470 class excavators on earth moving and grading, stripping and stockpiling.
• Build lease, pad and road, and install culverts to grade plans and project specifications.
• Work reclamation, ice road construction and all ground conditions, including soft ground.
• Perform routine inspections of tracks, fluids, lights and brakes, and grease before the machine moves.
• Operate a 2-way radio and communicate clearly with supervisors, operators and ground crew.
• Complete JSAs and FLHAs, attend pre-job safety meetings, and stay aware of people and iron nearby.
• Assist ground crews, shovel out equipment tracks, and perform labour duties as required.

• Minimum 3 years recent seat time on 336 and 470 class excavators in heavy civil, road building or mining.
• Experience stripping overburden, stacking, stockpiling and reclamation on all ground conditions.
• Valid safety tickets: CSO, BSO, CSTS-09 or OSSA Regional, H2S Alive, Intermediate First Aid with CPR and AED, Ground Disturbance, and in class Bear Awareness.
• Valid driver's licence and CSA approved safety boots, minimum 6 inch and fully laceable.
• Willing to live in camp on a rotational schedule and work 12 hour day and night shifts.

• Successful completion of Alcohol and Drug Screening.
• Successful completion of a comprehensive Fitness-to-Work Assessment. This assessment is job-related, focusing on the physical demands and safety sensitive nature of the work, and is conducted in accordance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements and the Alberta Human Rights Act. The assessment will cover:
  • Health History Review: A thorough examination of the candidate's health background.
  • Pre-Medical Evaluation: Measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
  • Musculoskeletal Examination: A head-to-toe assessment to identify any limitations or concerns related to physical health.
  • Critical Strength and Mobility Test: A series of tasks assessing lifting, carrying, and positional abilities aligned with the job's physical demands (up to 50 lbs).

• Proven experience with ice road construction.
• Ability to finish and trim to grade plans and technical specifications.
• Experience building oilfield leases, pads and access roads from technical drawings.

• Camp accommodations with room and board provided for the full rotation.
• Flights arranged through approved travel hubs in Calgary or Edmonton.
• 12 hour shifts, days and nights, outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Physically conditioned to safely lift up to 50 lbs, with job site noise and vibration.

• Starting wage of $35.00 to $40.00 per hour, based on verified seat time, with room to move up.
• Camp room and board provided, and travel arranged from Calgary or Edmonton.
• Long term work with projects running past a single season.
• Required orientation and assessment time is paid.
