Some people are looking for their next bar management position. Others are looking for the opportunity to build a destination from opening day. At BAR TOP, we're looking for the second person.

As a member of our Opening Leadership Team, you'll play an integral role in launching one of Avondale Estates' newest hospitality destinations. Working alongside ownership, the General Manager, and the Ophelia's Tavern leadership team, you'll help build an exceptional bar program, develop a high-performing team, establish service standards, and create an unforgettable guest experience from day one.

This isn't simply managing a bar. It's helping create the culture, energy, and experience that guests will come back for again and again. Located in The Dale, BAR TOP will serve as the social centerpiece of the development—a lively gathering place featuring handcrafted cocktails, an extensive whiskey and bourbon selection, premium spirits, local and domestic beer, thoughtfully selected wines, and genuine hospitality. Designed to complement Ophelia's Tavern, BAR TOP will offer guests an elevated yet approachable atmosphere where exceptional drinks, outstanding service, and great company come together.

We're looking for a leader who believes that taking care of employees is the first step to taking care of guests. If you're an experienced mixologist, passionate about hospitality, and enjoy leading from behind the bar instead of behind a desk, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Lead

As Beverage Manager, you'll oversee the daily operation of BAR TOP while partnering closely with the management team at Ophelia's Tavern to deliver a seamless guest experience throughout the property.

You'll be responsible for beverage quality, bartender development, inventory management, guest satisfaction, operational execution, and building a team that reflects our commitment to hospitality and excellence.


Opening Leadership Responsibilities

As part of our Opening Leadership Team, you will help:

  • Recruit, interview, hire, and develop the opening bar team
  • Assist in creating a culture built on hospitality, accountability, and teamwork
  • Implement beverage standards, recipes, service procedures, and operational systems
  • Lead bartender training and practice services prior to opening
  • Execute opening inventories and establish ordering procedures
  • Ensure bar setup, organization, and readiness before opening day
  • Work collaboratively with ownership and leadership to successfully launch BAR TOP
  • Provide operational feedback while executing the company's vision and service standards
Beverage Operations & Execution
  • Lead all daily bar operations
  • Maintain exceptional beverage quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Execute and enforce company cocktail recipes and beverage specifications
  • Ensure efficient bar service during high-volume business periods
  • Monitor beverage costs, inventory, and waste
  • Maintain proper liquor, beer, and wine inventory levels
  • Ensure compliance with all alcohol laws, responsible service standards, and company policies
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional bar environment
  • Work closely with the Ophelia's Tavern management team to ensure exceptional guest experiences throughout the property
Leadership & Team Development
  • Recruit, train, coach, schedule, and develop bartenders and bar support staff
  • Lead by example behind the bar during every shift
  • Jump in wherever needed to maintain service flow and support the team
  • Create an environment built on accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and hospitality
  • Conduct ongoing coaching, training, and performance development
  • Build future leaders through mentorship and continuous education
  • Foster a positive culture where employees feel supported and challenged
Guest Experience
  • Deliver exceptional hospitality while building relationships with regular guests
  • Ensure every beverage reflects BAR TOP's quality standards
  • Develop a knowledgeable team capable of confidently recommending cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently
  • Maintain a welcoming atmosphere that encourages guests to return
Who You Are

We're looking for someone who doesn't simply manage a bar—you lead one.

You are someone who:

  • Leads from behind the bar instead of from the office
  • Is an experienced mixologist with a passion for craft cocktails and hospitality
  • Builds people as intentionally as you build cocktails
  • Thrives during busy services while remaining calm and organized
  • Coaches and mentors instead of simply supervising
  • Understands that speed means nothing without quality
  • Takes ownership of beverage costs, inventory, and operational performance
  • Builds relationships with guests and earns the respect of your team
  • Believes culture begins with leadership
  • Enjoys collaborating with multiple departments to create an exceptional guest experience
Qualifications
  • Three or more years of bar management, beverage management, or comparable leadership experience
  • Proven experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant or bar
  • Advanced knowledge of cocktails, spirits, beer, wine, and responsible alcohol service
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, ordering, beverage cost controls, and scheduling
  • Experience recruiting, training, coaching, and developing bartenders
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment
  • New restaurant opening experience is a plus
  • TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol, or equivalent certifications preferred
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive Salary $55,000 - $65,000 based on experience
