Job Description: Power BI Financial Analyst
Constellation seeks a Power BI Developer Financial Analyst to join our Homeland Security Team in Washington, DC. This role requires advanced dashboarding and data analysis skills. The analyst will design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards that integrate operational and financial data to create meaningful, actionable insights for stakeholders. This role requires a strong understanding of SQL and coordination with other developers for extraction, transformation, and loading of data. This position is client-facing and requires excellent communication to translate complex technical outputs into clear business value.

Constellation seeks a Power BI Developer Financial Analyst to join our Homeland Security Team in Washington, DC. This role requires advanced dashboarding and data analysis skills. The analyst will design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards that integrate operational and financial data to create meaningful, actionable insights for stakeholders. This role requires a strong understanding of SQL and coordination with other developers for extraction, transformation, and loading of data. This position is client-facing and requires excellent communication to translate complex technical outputs into clear business value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, maintain, and optimize dashboards, reports, and data models using Power BI and other visualization tools.
- Design, build, and maintain data ETL pipelines from sources such as SQL databases, SharePoint, and Excel.
- Track, monitor, and reconcile program budgets, spend plans, obligations, and expenditures, providing regular financial status updates to leadership.
- Collaborate with end users and technical resources to understand and integrate data outputs into visualizations effectively.
- Translate complex data findings into clear, digestible insights for stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across reports and dashboards.
- Ensure compliance with DHS/CBP financial policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
The ideal candidate must have the following experience, background, and credentials:
- At least 4 years of experience working with large datasets in a Data Visualization tool like Power BI, Tableau, Qlik.
- Bachelor’s degree is required, with major in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in program financial management, budgeting, or acquisition support for government programs.
- Advanced understanding of SQL including query optimization, common table expressions (CTEs), and complex joins for deep-dive analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel for standard data analysis tasks (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas).
- Support strategic financial projects, including the development of tools, dashboards, and reports to improve visibility into financial management activities.
- Prepare financial briefings, reports, and recommendations for senior executives and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to gather requirements, present solutions, and translate complex data findings into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience developing PowerApps and Power Automate solutions is preferred.
- Experience using SAP is preferred.
- Be a U.S. citizen able to pass a background investigation by the client agency. DHS clearance with CBP or DHS preferred.

Experience:
