General Manager, B2B Marketplace (VP-Level)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a General Manager, B2B Marketplace (VP-Level) based in the United States.

This executive leadership role oversees the growth, operations, and strategic direction of a large-scale B2B marketplace platform serving enterprise customers nationwide.
The position combines operational excellence, customer relationship leadership, and commercial strategy to drive adoption, retention, and long-term business value.
You will lead customer-facing teams, develop senior leaders, and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams.
The ideal candidate will bring strong marketplace, enterprise account management, and people leadership experience to a fast-growing technology environment.
You will play a key role in shaping customer strategy, improving operational processes, and scaling a platform that supports critical industry workflows.

Accountabilities:

The General Manager will own the overall performance, operations, and continued growth of a flagship B2B marketplace platform. This role requires strategic leadership, strong operational discipline, and the ability to build trusted relationships with enterprise partners while scaling internal teams.

  • Own the performance, strategy, and operational execution of a large-scale B2B marketplace platform.
  • Lead and develop customer-facing organizations, including Account Management and Customer Experience teams, through experienced managers.
  • Drive enterprise customer success by improving adoption, retention, satisfaction, and long-term partnership value.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to align priorities and deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Gather customer insights and market feedback to influence commercial strategy, product investments, and platform improvements.
  • Provide executive-level guidance on customer presentations, strategic plans, business reviews, proposals, and performance updates.
  • Establish and improve operating processes, performance metrics, reporting structures, and team workflows.
  • Conduct regular reviews of account health, business priorities, opportunities, and risks with leadership teams.
  • Build scalable systems and organizational capabilities to support continued business growth.
  • Represent the organization in strategic customer meetings, executive discussions, and industry engagements.
  • Travel periodically to meet enterprise customers, support relationship development, and participate in strategic planning sessions.
Requirements:

The successful candidate will have significant experience leading enterprise customer organizations, managing complex relationships, and scaling teams within a fast-paced technology environment. They should combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and demonstrate strong commercial and operational judgment.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 8+ years of experience in account management, enterprise relationships, strategic partnerships, relationship-based sales, or similar roles.
  • Proven experience leading teams, including managing managers or overseeing organizations through multiple leadership layers.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex enterprise customer relationships and driving long-term account growth.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience developing teams, improving performance, and building scalable operating models.
  • Ability to balance executive-level strategy with hands-on involvement in important projects and initiatives.
  • Excellent project management skills with strong attention to detail and organizational discipline.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to use data to identify opportunities, solve problems, and guide decisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with business productivity tools including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Positive, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to collaborate across functions.
