Provider Relations Support Specialist

Position Summary
-
Serves as a general office and data entry support for provider relations division of the managed care department. Primary responsibility entails data entry of key data into provider network database and validating accuracy in a timely manner. May also work with provider files in preparation of credentialing for network participation. Provides assistance as needed with answering phones, filing, copying, mail, small projects and etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Work Experience

One year of experience in an increasingly responsible administrative support position preferred.

Previous physician office experience preferred.

Education-
Associate’s degree (OR) equivalent experience required.

Job Specific Performance Standards
-
The duties listed below are a summary of the major essential functions of this position. The position may require other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned, and specific functions may change from time to time.
- Enters and maintains key physician information in the network database; assures accuracy of information.
- Assists with coordination of numerous departmental mailing projects.
- Assists Provider Relations staff with preparing provider applications for credentialing.
- Coordinates and communicates with credentialing personnel regarding physician files.
- Assists provider relations staff in responding to fee allowable requests from physician office.
- Maintains supply stock levels and informs Administrative Assistant of items needed for ordering.
- Assists with special/large copy projects when requested.
- Assists by answering incoming phone calls and greets visitors to department within a timely fashion. Determines nature of call/visit and provides appropriate response, guidance. Refers more complex issues appropriately. Takes messages and/or refers visitor/caller to appropriate person.
- Prepares and/or assists with preparation of miscellaneous correspondence/documents (letters, agendas, minutes, charts, agreements, reports). Provides general clerical support to include distribution of materials, filing, faxing, and copying.
