Job Description

Position Title: Trainer, Digital Technology

Full Time, Contract

Location: Any CNIB location in Ontario

Reports To: Manager II, Outreach, Assistive Tech, and Venture Pool

I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities

The Trainer, Digital Technology will assist in the Talent Pool Cultivation by executing 1on1 and group training, capturing progress follow-up, developing the documented goals and skill development areas that pertain to digital technology skills as part of the participant’s development plan. This position requires a superior level of emotional maturity, resourcefulness, confidentiality, sound judgment, accuracy, diplomacy and digital technology training skills.


Working closely with management, staff, volunteers, as well as Talent Pool themselves, the Trainer will be afforded the opportunity to assist with Talent Pool cultivation through technical training work. This will require a sound understanding of vision loss assistive technology tools and how it interacts with various applications commonly used within the workplace.


II. Essential Functions

The position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities:

  • Conducts multiple 1-on-1 sessions with individuals within the Talent Pool developing skills in work related duties (i.e. email, documents, website, cloud storage, communications) via remote delivery courses and materials shared (developed, updated, shared). Accessible technology includes, Window accessibility features, screen readers, magnification software, smart phone Apps, etc.

  • Regular follow up with potential and current Talent Pool participants by telephone, email and virtual platforms (Zoom Video / Microsoft Teams)
  • Technologically savvy to learn new accessibility Apps, AI tools, digital platforms and software quickly to keep up with the fast-changing landscape of digital technology and provide the necessary training to the talent pool to be competitive in the job market.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage Outlook calendar to coordinate group training and one-on-one virtual meetings on an ongoing basis.
  • Use online CRM to track, register and follow-up with individuals for participation for group and one-on-one training including talent pool’s progress and challenges.
  • Produces ad hoc reports and CTW orientation presentations as needed
  • Participate in special projects and events as required.

III. Qualifications

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Proven time management and organization skills; amenable to changing priorities, deadlines and procedures.

  • Advanced computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office software including Outlook email / calendar, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and virtual platforms (Zoom Video / Teams).

  • Working knowledge of AI powered tools.

  • Proficiency/Working knowledge of Salesforce (an asset)

  • Advanced knowledge of assistive technology (i.e. Zoomtext, JAWS, NVDA, Windows Narrator) required.

  • Have an interest, aptitude and ability to research existing and new accessible technology for the sight loss community.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skill

  • Customer service oriented with well-developed interpersonal skills.

  • Professional attitude, results oriented, self-directed and flexible.

  • Demonstrates mature and sensitive nature, as well as emotional and social stability when dealing with the needs of persons experiencing vision loss and other functional challenges.

  • Must be able to work independently.

  • Bilingual in French and English an asset.

Experience and Education

  • Minimum Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • One (1) year of Training Delivery experience

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work environment; required to work in the office weekly
  • Agile office environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Occasional travel.
