General Job Description:

Tiffin University is seeking adjuncts to teach seated, in-person classes for the School of Criminal Justice and Social Sciences beginning Fall Semester 2026. The school is specifically seeking candidates that have experience and graduate education in the fields of psychology and sociology with an interest and willingness to teach College Credit Plus (CCP) courses in psychology and sociology in local high schools. College Credit Plus is Ohio's dual enrollment program that provides students the opportunity to earn college and high school credits simultaneously by taking courses from approved Ohio universities. Class assignments each semester are dependent on enrollment, however, there is currently a need for an instructor for the Fall 2026 semester to teach a SOC 101 course from 11:17-12:03 three days per week (MWR) in a local high school.

Candidates should minimally hold a master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field or hold a master’s degree and an additional 18 graduate credit hours in psychology and have experience as a professional in the field; doctorate preferred. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level. Evidence of effective teaching to diverse learners and experience in promoting and fostering a supportive learning environment using a variety of methodologies are a plus.

  • Teach seated, in-person, classes as needed in fall and spring semesters.
  • Instruct and supervise a diverse population of students in the classroom.
  • Possess a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence.
  • Ability or willingness to learn to manage an online course companion for your seated, face-to-face
  • Utilize a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institution.
  • Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources.
  • Assess students' performance through a range of measurement activities and provide accurate assessments of and rich feedback on student work.
  • Communicate with students through electronic and other means of communication.
  • Communicate with high school personnel and administration, as needed, when teaching CCP courses.
  • Utilize technology to facilitate learning and to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others.
  • Assist in the development, distribution, and collection of assessments for courses and program objectives where indicated.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Employ positive and professional tone in all communications with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Provide direction and leadership within the classroom by displaying an effective working knowledge of the subject matter and by demonstrating best practices relating to teaching/instructional techniques.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with students, colleagues, and college administration.
  • Submit timely university reports and forms to the appropriate divisions and departments when required.
  • Exhibit a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activities.
  • Adhere to Tiffin University policies and procedures.
  • Respond to all student requests for help within 24 hours by email, phone, or instant messaging.
  • Participate in ongoing training and attend institutional meetings as required.
  • Assist in efforts to recruit and retain students.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

Education:

Master’s degree in the field of psychology or a closely related discipline; PhD or PsyD degree preferred.

Experience:

Professional experience in the field of psychology through current or prior employment in a municipal, state, or federal agency, or in the private sector. Prior teaching in a college and/or university setting and/or teaching is preferred.
