Job Description

Summary: The Senior Human Resources Generalist – Training & Organizational Development serves as a strategic partner responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating learning, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, leadership capability, and workforce performance across CharterCARE Health of Rhode Island. Approximately 80% of the role is dedicated to training and organizational development activities, including leadership development, onboarding, learning management, employee engagement, succession planning, change management, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.

The remaining 20% of the position provides general human resources support, including employee relations, performance management consultation, policy interpretation, recruitment support, and HR compliance. Working collaboratively with HR leadership, operational leaders, and department managers, this role helps cultivate a high-performing workforce that supports CharterCARE's mission, vision, and strategic priorities while delivering an exceptional employee experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Education, Psychology, or a related field required. Related combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Leadership, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Professional certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, CPTD, or other learning and development certification is highly preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • At least three (3) years of experience leading organizational development, employee learning, leadership development, or talent development initiatives.
  • Experience designing and facilitating instructor-led and virtual training programs.
  • Experience supporting organizational change, performance management, employee engagement, and leadership development.
  • Healthcare experience strongly preferred.

Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Normal office setting. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk. Requires long periods of visually examining documents and viewing computer screens. Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 30 lbs. Must be able to bend, stretch, use tools and ladders. Primarily office-based with some travel required within the health system. Meets all safety requirements associated with CharterCARE Health Partners facilities.

Essential Responsibilities

Training & Organizational Development (Approximately 80%)

  • Design, develop, implement, and evaluate organization-wide learning and development programs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate new employee orientation and onboarding programs that promote organizational culture and accelerate employee success.
  • Develop leadership development curricula for supervisors, managers, directors, and emerging leaders.
  • Partner with organizational leaders to identify learning needs and recommend development strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Conduct organizational needs assessments and competency analyses to identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning programs.
  • Manage leadership training, professional development, compliance education, and mandatory annual learning programs.
  • Support succession planning initiatives by identifying development opportunities for high-potential employees.
  • Collaborate with HR leadership to implement employee engagement strategies and action plans.
  • Facilitate team-building, conflict management, communication, customer service, and leadership workshops.
  • Assist departments through organizational change initiatives by providing change management support and coaching.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through participant feedback, learning assessments, performance metrics, and organizational outcomes.
  • Maintain learning records and support Learning Management System (LMS) administration and reporting.
  • Develop educational materials, facilitator guides, job aids, e-learning content, and resource materials.
  • Stay current on adult learning methodologies, leadership best practices, healthcare workforce trends, and organizational development strategies.

Human Resources Generalist Responsibilities (Approximately 20%)

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning initiatives as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and organizational policies.
  • Participate in HR projects, process improvement initiatives, and department-wide strategic priorities.
  • Prepare reports and analyze workforce metrics to support decision-making.
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees and leadership.
