Key Account Manager, Oncology

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Key Account Manager, Oncology based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to support the delivery of innovative oncology therapies and improve outcomes for patients through strategic healthcare partnerships.
You will manage a defined territory by building strong relationships with oncology providers, health systems, and key healthcare stakeholders.
The position combines scientific expertise, commercial execution, and account strategy to drive appropriate product adoption and business growth.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to address customer needs, improve access, and support patient-focused initiatives.

Accountabilities:

As a Key Account Manager, Oncology, you will be responsible for executing territory strategies, developing strategic healthcare partnerships, and supporting commercial growth within oncology markets. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Achieve or exceed territory sales objectives and brand performance goals through effective account management and execution of commercial strategies.
  • Develop and implement territory business plans focused on priority accounts, growth opportunities, customer needs, and market dynamics.
  • Manage customer targeting, call planning, account prioritization, and performance analysis to maximize territory impact.
  • Analyze market trends, prescribing behaviors, competitive activity, and territory data to identify opportunities and adapt strategies.
  • Deliver compliant product presentations and communicate approved clinical, safety, and product information to healthcare professionals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with oncology physicians, specialists, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, practice administrators, hospital systems, and infusion center leaders.
  • Create strategic account plans incorporating stakeholder mapping, treatment pathways, access considerations, and customer objectives.
  • Develop trusted partnerships with community oncology practices, academic centers, hospitals, and integrated healthcare networks.
  • Collaborate with Market Access, Patient Services, Trade, and internal teams to support reimbursement, distribution, product access, and patient support initiatives.
  • Identify customer access challenges, market opportunities, and field insights, communicating recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs teams to support appropriate scientific exchange and healthcare professional education.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of oncology disease states, clinical data, treatment landscapes, product information, and evolving standards of care.
  • Support product launches, lifecycle initiatives, customer education programs, and field execution strategies.
  • Maintain accurate CRM documentation, account plans, activity records, expense reports, and compliance requirements.
  • Operate according to pharmaceutical industry regulations, including FDA requirements, compliance policies, and applicable healthcare standards.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a commercially driven healthcare professional with strong oncology expertise, account management capabilities, and the ability to build trusted relationships with complex healthcare stakeholders. Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of successful pharmaceutical, biotechnology, specialty healthcare, or related healthcare sales experience with proven achievement against sales objectives.
  • Experience managing complex healthcare accounts and engaging multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Experience with specialty pharmaceutical products, strategic account selling, or account-based commercial models.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare delivery systems, pharmaceutical commercialization, and specialty markets.
  • Oncology, hematology, specialty pharmacy, or buy-and-bill experience preferred.
  • Experience working with community oncology practices, academic medical centers, hospitals, or integrated delivery networks preferred.
  • Knowledge of specialty distribution models, reimbursement pathways, medical benefits, treatment protocols, and oncology workflows preferred.
  • Strong scientific aptitude with the ability to understand and communicate complex clinical information effectively.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong territory planning, account strategy, business analysis, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated accountability, initiative, adaptability, and results-oriented mindset.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical compliance requirements and industry regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel regularly, including occasional overnight travel.
  • Ability to reside within the assigned territory or relocate prior to the start date.
