Job Description
The Assistant Director, Evening Business Programs, plays a vital role in supporting Whitworth University’s mission of providing education of the mind and heart. This position focuses on guiding adult and online learners in the School of Continuing Studies. The Assistant Director provides enrollment coaching, academic advising, and ongoing student support, while also collaborating with the Program Director to enhance program delivery based on student feedback.
Schedule
Full-time (1.0 FTE) | 12 months | 40 hours per week
Whitworth office hours are 8 AM to 4:30 PM Monday – Friday

- Guide prospective students through the admissions process, providing personalized support and degree planning.
- Perform transfer evaluations and develop tailored degree plans.
- Evaluate admission applications and facilitate decisions with the admissions committee.
- Communicate program details effectively to prospective students, fostering enrollment commitment.
Academic Advising and Student Support | 35%
- Advise a caseload of approximately 100 students, assisting with course registration, degree planning, and academic interventions.
- Monitor student success metrics and provide proactive academic support to address challenges.
- Assist students with internships, scholarship applications, and recognitions.
- Maintain accurate advising records and process degree completion documentation with the Registrar’s Office.
Program Development and Feedback | 15%
- Collaborate with the Program Director to ensure programs are student-centered and relevant.
- Collect and share feedback from students to continuously improve program delivery.
- Contribute content ideas for program promotions, including social media and newsletters.
Collaboration and Operations | 10%
- Work with the School of Continuing Studies team to coordinate admissions, orientation, and registration processes.
- Support student engagement activities, such as celebration events and commencement planning.
- Liaise with campus departments, including Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Accounts, to enhance student services.
Additional Contributions | 5%
- Participate in special projects, recruitment events, and department initiatives as needed.
- Represent the School of Continuing Studies at evening or occasional weekend events.
- Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience in higher education, career counseling, or a related field. - Familiarity with the needs and challenges of adult learners, online students, or non-traditional students in higher education.
- Skilled in leveraging data insights to drive strategic decisions and optimize outcomes.

- A commitment to the educational mission of Whitworth University as a comprehensive Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church.
- Ability to establish trust and build rapport with prospective students, guiding them through the enrollment process.
- Skill in presenting program benefits clearly and compellingly to inspire enrollment commitment.
- Commitment to addressing student needs proactively and holistically.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and experienced with modern tools such as CRM, SIS, or LMS platforms to enhance efficiency and support student success.
- Ability to monitor and interpret student success metrics and recommend interventions.
- Effectiveness in coordinating with internal teams and external campus offices to streamline student services.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects or initiatives simultaneously, meeting deadlines with accuracy and efficiency.
- Experience organizing and coordinating events that foster student engagement and community-building efforts.
- Basic knowledge of financial aid policies and procedures, and how they relate to enrollment and retention efforts.
- Skilled in addressing student challenges and fostering positive outcomes.
Schedule
Full-time (1.0 FTE) | 12 months | 40 hours per week
Whitworth office hours are 8 AM to 4:30 PM Monday – Friday
- Flexible options are available after the initial appointment period.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings (until 6:15 PM) and occasional weekends for events or activities.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation for local travel as needed.
- Willingness to participate in evening and weekend events to support program goals.
