Position: Peer Recovery Support Specialist – Substance Use Disorder InterCPT

Status: Full Time

Job Summary:

Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) to join our InterCPT Program.

The InterCPT Program at Southern Highlands provides intensive addiction treatment and recovery support to individuals at increased risk of relapse, hospitalization, or incarceration. This position supports individuals on their recovery journey through coordinated services, including peer recovery support, individual and group therapy, and collaboration with medical professionals and community agencies to promote long-term recovery and stability. The Peer Recovery Support Specialist uses their personal lived experience with recovery to provide encouragement, guidance, and individualized support to participants as they work toward achieving and maintaining long-term recovery.

Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary treatment team, the PRSS helps individuals overcome barriers, develop healthy coping strategies, access community resources, and build a strong foundation for continued recovery and stability.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education (level and type) and Related Work Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Lived experience of recovery from substance use disorders.
• Preferred qualifications include at least one (1) year of experience working with consumers with substance use challenges.
• At least two (2) years of sobriety are required.
• State or nationally recognized peer certification or training as required by the West Virginia

Department of Health and Human Services (DoHS).
