Physical Therapist – Inpatient

Helping Patients Regain Strength and Independence, One Step at a Time

As an Inpatient Physical Therapist at Froedtert South, you'll help hospitalized patients improve mobility, rebuild strength, and safely progress toward discharge. You'll work with patients recovering from illness, injury, surgery, and other medical conditions, using your clinical judgment to guide their recovery during an important stage of care.

Working closely with physicians, nurses, and other rehabilitation professionals, you'll help patients build the skills and confidence they need to transition safely to their next level of care.

What You'll Do

• Evaluate hospitalized patients' mobility, strength, balance, endurance, and functional abilities.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on medical status, functional limitations, and discharge goals.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, bed mobility training, transfers, gait training, and other appropriate interventions.
• Assess patients' ability to safely perform daily mobility activities and recommend appropriate assistance or equipment.
• Monitor patient responses to treatment and modify interventions based on progress, tolerance, and medical precautions.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, occupational therapists, case managers, and other members of the care team.
• Contribute to discharge planning by identifying rehabilitation needs, equipment recommendations, and appropriate follow-up services.
• Educate patients and families on safe mobility, fall prevention, home exercise programs, and recovery expectations.
• Document evaluations, treatment sessions, patient progress, and recommendations accurately and timely.
• Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and hospital policies while providing care.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and initiatives that support positive patient outcomes.

What We're Looking For

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or other qualifying physical therapy degree accepted for licensure.
• Current physical therapist license or eligibility to practice in Wisconsin.
• Strong clinical judgment and the ability to evaluate patients with varying medical and functional needs.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to prioritize patient care needs and adapt treatment to changing medical conditions.
• Commitment to safe mobility, evidence-based practice, and patient-centered care.
• Inpatient or acute care experience preferred.

$42.00 - $62.00 | PMs, Nights & Weekend Differential

Pay is based on experience.
