We are seeking a motivated Sr. Construction Architect to join our team in support of a modernization construction project at the VA Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri. This role reports to the Program Director and collaborates with VA client staff to support construction activities, generate reports, and serve as a client-side representative.
Position Description:
The Sr Construction Architect will lead a team of professionals and act as the Owner's representative on these programs from design through construction and closeout. Will be required to learn, teach, and implement industry and internal company best practices related to project delivery, budget, schedule, quality and operations in the healthcare environment. This position will require experience leading and mentoring a team of professionals and experience as an advisor/liaison with the client (user groups, design team, contractors, and facility engineering representatives).
Responsibilities include:
· Project management of all professional and technical services related to the VA design and construction delivery process.
· The services are to be performed in cooperation with the VISN, Health Care System, building occupants, architect-engineers (VHA hired designers), and construction contractors (VHA hired constructors).
· The CM-SA shall represent VHA in a professional manner and provide sound management advice regarding work performed on assigned projects. For each project, the goal shall be to achieve the best value in the work being performed by controlling schedule and budget.
· The CM-SA shall also be proactive in helping to resolve problems and minimize claims taking all reasonable measures to anticipate problems and delays and to minimize or eliminate their adverse impact on project completion.
· The CM-SA must take the initiative and act to mitigate circumstances that could lead to claims, resolve conflicts promptly, and keep the Government advised of any potential disputes.
· The CM-SA shall exercise all due diligence, utilizing competent personnel within authorized limitations, to make certain that work is performed in conformity with applicable requirements (codes, regulations, standards, construction contract plans and specifications).
· The CM-SA shall work with all stakeholders, including VHA authority having jurisdiction and compliance committees to de-conflict standards and develop consensus on appropriate solution to move project forward.
· The CM-SA shall continuously review schedules and adjust based on the progress of work and make specific recommendations for prioritizing and accelerating critical path items.
· The CM-SA shall facilitate, manage and document all project meetings to keep stakeholders and integrated project team members informed.
· The CM-SA shall manage construction and construction administration documents, correspondence, and as-builts.
· CM-SA deliverables include a project management plan, including the communication plan, schedule management plan, quality assurance plan, risk management plan, and Project Tracking Reports in the VHA Capital Assets database.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering from an accredited school of higher education.
· registered architect OR licensed engineer preferred
· It is required that the individual have a minimum of 6 years of experience in both design and construction with a focus on medical facilities.
· Must able to quickly understand and master the requirements of the local state
and federal jurisdictions and the requirements of each in relation to this Project.
· Must posses the knowledge of Construction Contract Documents including Front
End and Technical Specifications and Drawings to readily understand and assess the requirements.
· Must have the skillset and a working knowledge of engineering services,
building codes, budgeting and scheduling to lead to the project’s success.
· Must possess the skillset and competency to supervise and manage personnel of
diverse skillsets.
The pay range for this role is:
110,000 - 130,000 USD per year(St. Louis, MO)
