Job Description
Mailing Specialist
Under general supervision, sets up and operates printing and mailing equipment according to job specifications. Keeps abreast of applicable postal regulations and procedures as well as current best practices for the mailing industry and understands mail categories and classes (e.g.: drop shipment procedures, expedited services, mail permit applications, and mail piece design). Creates, imports, processes, and outputs mailing lists, variable data, and other print assignments. Completes and maintains required paperwork, records, documents, etc. Supervises others involved in the production process. Performs minor maintenance and cleaning of equipment. Maintains work area. Performs other job-related duties as required.
High School Diploma or GED required. Ten years of full-time paid experience operating production printing and industrial mailing equipment (equivalent to a DS1000 or higher) and software required—including job set-up, supervision, and bulk processing of transactional documents such as invoices, statements, bills, and notifications. Two years of supervisory experience required. Must be proficient with computers and all applicable software in use at the Division of Printing, including Microsoft Office Suite, Satori bulk mailing software, Print Machine, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Experience using GMC Inspire software is preferred. Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License required. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds. Must be able to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
