Principal Organist/Sacred Music Coordinator in Oak Grove, Missouri at St Jude the Apostle Catholic Church Oak Grove

The role of the Principal Organist is to prayerfully and thoughtfully work to foster a spirit of awe and reverence for the parishes of St. George in Odessa and St. Jude in Oak Grove through the use of Sacred Music in the liturgy. The principal organist will work with parishioners to bring them into the celebration of the liturgy and reports directly to the pastor or parochial administrator.

Essential Duties:

• Weekly, select the music for the Sacred Liturgy at the parishes, particularly the Sunday liturgies.
• Play the organ for all weekend and Holy Day liturgies.
• Find replacements for weekends and Holy Days when unavailable.
• Foster a desire in the parishioners for a deeper participation in the liturgy through cantering and other liturgically appropriate instruments.
• Train all cantors and musicians.
• Assist with weddings and funerals or find subs when unavailable.
• Assist the pastor or administrator with any other needs.

Qualifications:

• Practicing Catholic with ethical standards, personal integrity, and conduct consistent with the morals and teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Passionate about the Church, Liturgy and Music, and building relationships.
• Bachelor’s degree in Music or equivalent experience.
