Central Sterile Processing Technician
Position Summary:
The Central Sterile Technician functions as an integral member of the surgical team. Under close supervision, the Central Sterile Technician is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, sterilization, biological monitoring, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment throughout Box Butte General Hospital. This role ensures compliance with infection prevention standards and regulatory requirements to support safe patient care and surgical services. The Central Sterile Technician maintains strict adherence to aseptic technique and sterilization protocols.
This position independently performs the full scope of all central sterile processing functions with an emphasis on the timely assessment and response to sterility concerns or issues that may arise in the OR and/or other hospital units.
This position offers a pathway for advancement to Surgical Technician after a minimum of (6) months of employment and successful completion of required competencies. Advancement is contingent upon demonstrated performance, competency validation, and available positions.
Attendance is essential. May work up to 12 hours depending on organizational needs. Days may vary depending on organizational needs.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Certifications:
Maintains BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Workers within 3 months of hire.
Post-offer/pre-employment background check and drug screen are required.
