At The Golden Key Center for Exceptional Children, we believe every student has the ability to learn, grow, and thrive—and we’re looking for compassionate, dedicated individuals to help make that happen.

We are currently hiring Paraprofessionals to support students in our specialized, non-public charter school serving Preschool through 8th grade.

If you are someone who enjoys meaningful, hands-on work and wants to make a direct impact in students’ lives every day, we’d love to connect with you.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll work closely with teachers and school leadership to support students in both educational and daily living activities. No two days are the same—and that’s part of what makes this work so rewarding.

You will:

Support students in small groups or one-on-one learning environments

Reinforce classroom instruction and help maintain a positive learning space

Assist with daily living needs such as feeding, hygiene, and mobility (training provided)

Follow individualized education and behavior plans

Monitor student behavior and provide support when needed

Collaborate with teachers and staff to prepare materials and track student progress

Help ensure a safe, respectful, and structured classroom environment

Who You Are

You’re someone who:

Is patient, compassionate, and comfortable working with students with diverse needs

Brings a positive attitude and strong sense of responsibility

Communicates effectively and works well as part of a team

Is adaptable and willing to step in where support is needed

Maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and strong ethical standards

What You’ll Need

Associate’s Degree, High School Diploma, or Paraprofessional Aide Permit

Ability (or willingness to obtain) an Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce

Experience working with students with special needs is preferred

You’ll also need to:

Complete required training (e.g., bloodborne pathogens, de-escalation, ethics)

Pass background requirements for school employment

Be comfortable supporting students with medical and developmental needs (training provided)

Work Environment & Expectations

This is an active, hands-on role. You may:

Stand, walk, bend, or assist students throughout the day

Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

Support students who may display behavioral challenges

Safety, teamwork, and student dignity are always top priorities.

Schedule & Benefits

Start Date: April 2026 and beyond

Schedule: Follows the school calendar (including holidays and development days)

Benefits include:

Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance

401(k) plan

Paid time off

Why Golden Key?
