Counselor, Substance Abuse (I) at Central Peninsula Hospital – Soldotna, Alaska

POSITION SUMMARY: Counselors provide direct clinical care to clients of the Behavioral Health Department both at Serenity House Treatment Center and at the Intake office location. This position must have a detailed understanding of the 12-steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and be able to work with a wide range of clients experiencing chemical dependency issues. Counselors provide individual, group and family therapy, completing all required documentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma/GED
• A minimum of one (1) year of Behavioral Health experience
• Chemical Dependency Counselor I Certification through the Alaska Commission for Behavioral Health
• BLSP (CPR) from the American Heart Association within 90 days of employment.
• Understanding of chemical dependency and mental health problems combined with a willingness to effectively intervene with families in crisis.
