Safety:
This is a SAFETY SENSITIVE position involving exposure to extreme weather while operating heavy equipment and tools on rooftops. Employees must stay alert to identify and report safety hazards, including risks from energized electrical equipment, trips, falls, and overhead work. Comprehensive training is required before starting any on-site activities.
Essential Functions
- Foster a safety culture by strictly adhering to OSHA, NFPA, state and local codes, and Solar Gain’s safety protocols.
- Follow directions given by the Crew Lead.
- Properly utilize safety equipment (harness, ropes, tool lanyards, safety lanyards, etc)
- Properly install safety devices (Bull ring anchors, toe board, delineators, etc)
- Layout and assemble solar modules/arrays, mechanical/structural mounting hardware, modules, and electrical wiring of equipment (AC and DC).
- Proper and effective use of power tools.
- Properly seal all roof penetrations.
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Clean up the job site.
- Attend assigned training sessions and company meetings as required.
- Diligently record all hours worked to maintain accurate attendance and project records.
- Acquire PV Installer required skills listed in PV Installer 1 Skills Matrix.

Work Environment
The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 8–10-hour shifts, and weekends as needed. The project work site location varies.
Work is performed outdoors, often on rooftops near edges without parapets, which exposes workers to dangers, particularly falls caused by tripping hazards.
Physical Requirements
This position requires physical agility, including the ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops for extended periods. Full mobility of the upper and lower body is necessary, along with visual, verbal, and hearing acuity for effective communication and safe equipment operation. Team members must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force and lift or carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
