Solar Gain is seeking a skilled Service Technician to maintain and troubleshoot residential and commercial solar PV systems—primarily 3-phase configurations. This role is hands-on, field-based, and mission-critical to keeping our clients’ systems operating at peak performance.
What You’ll DoAs a Service Technician, you’ll be the go-to expert for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining solar PV systems. Your day might include:
Responding to service tickets and performing routine system inspections
Diagnosing and troubleshooting system issues, including RMAs for faulty components
Performing corrective, preventative, and emergency maintenance
Conducting advanced testing procedures, including:
I-V curve tracing
Ground fault and fall of potential testing
Megger testing
Transformer turn testing
String testing
IR connection testing
Voltage and amperage testing
Communication signal testing
Torque testing
Basic system commissioning
Performing root cause analysis on major components
Preparing formal technical reports on system failures
Interfacing directly with customers to explain system status and mitigation plans
Maintaining accurate documentation, service records, and material/labor tracking
Ensuring company tools and vehicles are maintained to high standards
This is a safety-sensitive position. You will:
Work in extreme weather conditions
Operate heavy equipment and tools on rooftops
Work on or near energized electrical equipment (with risk of shock or arc flash)
Be responsible for identifying and reporting safety hazards
Comprehensive training is required before performing on-site work. We foster a strong safety culture and strictly adhere to OSHA, NFPA, state and local codes, and Solar Gain safety protocols. Zero safety violations is not just a goal—it’s the standard.

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
